PostSubject: Pickett Info   Mon Nov 28, 2011 5:53 pm

So we went to Pickett for our Black Friday ride.

We parked at the sandwich shop. We went down the paved road to a gravel road, past a building and into the trails. Went to Carhauler, the natural arch, the pond, and an overlook all out trail 1.

I just cannont figure out where the sandwhich shop is on the google earth map I found in another post on here.

The parking area on the Monticello side of Pickett where we sometimes park is called
Sunnybrook Parking and the address is:
16595 hwy. 200
Monticello, KY 42633

Owned by Carl Beaty #606-348-4767

Dan, do you have any maps printed out in a size big enough to show all the trails and points of interest? I printed out two and put them together, but when you zoom out you lose clarity of the smaller loops, like car hauler.

I sure don't... it takes a huge printer to print the first large map.

I do all my planning using GE. The GPS version then becomes an aid.

I cant wait to go back. We had a Rzr break a tie rod about 100 yards from Pall Mall overlook....it wasnt an easy ride back out! Does anyone night ride there? And what about riding the roads between the trails in the upper right side of the map?

We've never had a problem riding Sandy Valley Rd, aka CR1212, from the old Sandy Valley School to Dry Hollow Bridge, at Slickford, OR Ky-1009 from Dry Hollow to 54. We've also ridden the Cooper-Slickford Rd from Edwards Mtn many times.

We've always seen several vehicles parked near Dry Hollow Bridge and along Dry Hollow Rd.

I have been parking at Black House Mountain Rd for 15 years. I have not had anything bothered yet, I have heard several stories of folks having things taken. I always make sure and keep everything out of sight, my windows are tinted dark, and I always Pad lock everything!

There is always a 1st time, and it may be the next time I am up there DontKnow

Trail 70 is my favorite trail up there, its not difficult but it is the perception that gets most folks...that 40-50' Drop off right next to the Drivers door generally gets a few "Oh Shit's"!
