OK, I know a stupid question, but this is my highway GPS and it needs to be upgraded, do I send it back to Garmin? do they charge to update new maps?

Stakk if you have it registered with Gamin, you go to their site, create you or login. Select your device and choose update maps.

It's really not too difficukt to do on their site. Just a warning, don't be surprised if your update isn't as planned. I've had 3 different god's over the last 10+ years and if seems like a new road rams about 6-8 years to make it to the gps maps. If you are just wanting updated maps I wouldn't bother.

Yes they do charge for the updates. You can get lifetime updates for ~$100

Dont waste your money, buy the new garmin 40 LTM with lifetime free updates for maps, costs 129.00 on amazon with free shipping. This one shows intersections, speed limits and even warns you of traffic cameras. I just upgraded mine to this one and it is great. Also has a 4.3'' screen.

you can get it for less without the map upgrade, but its a better deal with it if your going to keep it a few years. here is the link to the base model, click the box with Lifetime maps for the 129.deal they also have it in the 50 series w/maps thats a 5'' screen for 149.
