PostSubject: Moving to NC from WA   Moving to NC from WA EmptyTue Jun 12, 2012 11:36 pm

hello,
My name is Bob and I'm possibly moving to the Maxton NC area due to work. I have a Commander 800R XT, but I don't know what there is for riding in that area. Up here in Washington State, we have all kinds of riding, and I'm afraid there wont be any riding available. Can someone please tell me what I'm getting into!

Looks like you are going to be deep into NC. We have some great ride areas in TN and WV. Those will be your closest places for big atv/utv parks. These places are 20 acres plus.

That sucks! a normal ride for me up here is 70+ miles trail riding (6hr. day) when the weather is crappy we ride maybe 12hr. days and cover about 30 miles.

Welcome, Bob. Looks like Maxton is going to be 5 or 6 hours away from the best riding in the country, at least in my book. The riding here is probably going to be different from what you are used to. For some idea you may want to search Youtube for Windrock, Coal Creek, Brimstone, Royal Blue, North Cumberland, Pickett, Black Mtn, and Hatfield-McCoy for starters. These areas are in East Tennessee along the I-75 corridor, in southern WV along the I-77 corridor, and southern Kentucky and Virginia. Traditionally this is coal mining country and the local groups working with large landowners (mining/timber companies) have opened up huge areas for us to play. Once at your base (campground/hotel/bed and breakfast/cabin) you can disappear for days or weeks at a time. A normal day for us is also riding for 10-12 hours at a time traversing 50-100 miles of very rugged, steep, lush terrain.

welcome to the site. We are one of the largest sxs clubs around. You can join the club and become an ORANGE member. That will give you access to the entire site, which will give you the club ride info. Hope to meet you.

This club has members all over the southeast as well as other states. We hook up and ride all over the southeast.

Welcome to NC! Raleigh, NC here. There are several places to ride in NC. However, the best place IMO is Brimstone, TN - about 7 hours.

NC area riding:

Uhwarrie National Park OHV
Trails range from easy to holy crap! It's small but a nice day or weekend ride.

Busco Beach
Not much for trials but if you like mud this is your place!

Carolina Adventure World
Very nice place to ride with the family. Easy to moderate trails, clearly marked one-way trail system.

Cape Fear ATV Park
So so, kinda small and very muddy.

Brushy Mountain Motorsports Park
