Greetings,

I'm Chuck Riedhammer, Executive Director of Spearhead Trails. I just wanted to drop in and say hey. Great site you have here and it looks like a good bunch of people.

I just wanted to let you know that if you have any questions or feedback let us have it. We're working to make our trail systems the kind of place you want to ride. We have a few rules, as you know, but we're a public entity so we can't do much about that. But that shouldn't stop you from having fun.

Just let me know if there is anything you think we could do better and I'll be sure to make Chris/Big Jake, do it. :)

Have a good one and ride safe!

Yeah, I know. He's like Paul Bunyan except instead of a Blue Ox and Axe he has a Red RZR and a Chainsaw. Beware.

Hi Chuck, I am glad you stopped by. It looks like you guys are building a great trail system for riders. I hope to get down there and try the place out. I am sure the are many members here that will do the same.

The one thing I know you will need is a campground. However, if I heard right that is already in the making.

welcome2  to the site.

Hey Big-R.  Thanks for the welcome.  We're working on it every day, trying to figure out the best balance in trails, difficulty, mud, safety vs allowing as much freedom as possible etc.  It's a learning process but we are very proud of the work our board and staff (especially Chris and Andrea) has done.  They work hard, pretty much seven days a week.

We're actually going to be launching an online survey about Mountain View so we can get feedback from riders on what they like, don't like, what sorts of services they want to see, etc.  I'll let you know when it's ready.

How would you feel about a campground that WAS the trailhead?

It's already there.  It's called Maggie Way and the guy that owns it donated the land for our parking area on the hill above.  It's a great place, full hookups, new bath house and a camp store coming soon.  You can ride from the campground right into town, about a mile. You can get permits in town or on our website.

Check out the link on our Facebook page. Also, St. Paul is not just "ATV Tolerant" is "ATV Friendly" and you can ride to all sorts of restaurants in the commercial district and downtown, go to the farmers' market, etc.

I'm sorry, I don't mean to sound like an ad for Spearhead, even though that's kind of my job, just trying to answer some questions.  This is a great forum to see what everyone else is doing, where they are riding, etc.  I think ya'll would really like our trail system.  I think the dense woods and cool overlooks make it a little different than the average trail.

Give me a shout if you all have questions or need anything.

Chuck, A campground that is a Trail head is the best deal you can have. Trails End and Windrock are set up that way and it doesn't get any better then that. You guys are getting it right.

This club loves to ride new places. However, we tend to go where we are accommodated the best. We have a large group that needs at lest 30 RV spots.

Now the cool thing is, we have never had a group ride in VA. That sounds like a new adventure. We love adventures!!!!!!!

We've got a great setup for the gang. The campground is about the size of Evarts South but a lot nicer. Better bathhouse, cleaner, and more restaurants, etc. Big R and I have already talked about bringing SouthernSXSriders into town.

Goose, your about an hour and 30 minutes trailhead to trailhead. I live in Coeburn and it takes me just a little over an hour to get there. Not a bad drive either to get there. Mostly all 4 lanes.
