What is this country coming to? I used to have one in the back of my car at school during hunting season in Pa. This is Texas. One of the last lines of defense to stop this progressive bullshit.  rant2

these dumb asses just want to get youtube views and try and make the police look bad. all this is causing is more gun control laws. use common scene!!

think about it, what would you think if you seen a man walking down the street toward a school with a AR on his back.then not cooperating with the officer when ask for ID. that is obstruction of justice. police do not need probable cause to ask for your id or even to pull your car over. its called REASONABLE SUSPICION. any reasonable person would think there is or will be a crime committed with someone walking down the street with a long gun on there back.

im all for open carry but these jackasses are not helping.

http://bearingarms.com/long-gun-open-carry-incident-leads-to-proposed-law-against-it/

if i am out with family i dont want everyone to know i am carrying. if someone is going to shoot up a place the first person they are going to shoot is the one that is open carrying.

May I suggest that this is more of a professional response by an Officer of the Law in a matter like this. If the citizens of this country would like to change that then there is a process where 2/3's of the States can vote to do so. Until then, a Citizen who is committing no crime may walk down the street with a locked and loaded AR on his person, and should not be harassed by Law enforcement for doing so. While this may seem very strange in our society today, the Constitution is still the Law of the land and grants them the right to do so. I commend this Officer for being educated and not using some excuse like "Reasonable Suspicion" to disarm and detain them.

Although these "Jackass's" do seem like snotty privileged nerds that are doing nothing more than making Law enforcements job more difficult for a day. I will say that I am surprised that not more of the card carrying NRA members on this site support them.

Anyway, great debate. Check it out.

I agree that opening carring your firearm should NEVER be an issue. I do it EVERY day but there is a difference between my holstered 45 and slinging my AR over my shoulder and walking downtown. Common sense goes a long way but the problem is common sense is not so common anymore. The jokers in the videos and not trying to prove a point about the constitution but rather just get youtube hits, pointless and stupid.

Cops have a tough enough job without wankers running around the streets with ARs slung over thier should just for fun....again...common sense.

And when I went to school we had rifles and shotguns hanging in the gun racks of our trucks...never a problem.

That officer was very good. The "yo yos" are dumb. Not the way to prove a point these days. Personally I am seeing more civilian open carry these days which I find interesting and the funny part is there doesn't seem to be any concern by passers by.

The world is full of real pricks. Who do you think is being the prick in these vids and why? Is it the cops or is it the drivers?

Driving is a privilege granted by each state. It is NOT a constitutional right. Driving vs carrying is like trying to compare apples vs oranges. I figure a driver has a duty to allow lawful inspections. IIRC, that is a part of the licensing agreement between the driver and the state.

I know this thread is about carrying but my brain tunes in more with the social behavior when watching those videos so i am Not trying to compare carrying vs driving. I am comparing interaction of citizens and law enforcement dealing with rights, attitude and the escalation of a situation. Interesting to hear you put driving in the context of being a privilege- thats very good because that is exactly what it is a- "special" right. A special right that shouldn't take anything away from your constitutional rights.Hijack

people like this just piss me off. They make it hard for the police to do there job. They don't want to bother people they're just doing there job. Why make it hard for them? If there is nothing to hide then don't act like there is. Be open with them and comply to there questions. these guys are just being dicks throwing our rights in the cops faces and acting like "whatca gonna do about it?" an attitude adjustment is what I would get if my grandfather or father in-law found out that I acted like this.

VA code 46.2-104. Possession of registration cards; exhibiting registration card and licenses; failure to carry license or registration card.

must show DL to law enforcement and answer any questions about your identity.

if you act like those  Butt holes you can bet you will be asked to pull to the side for further investigation to see if you are under the influence. its warranted if you have glassy eyes or slurred speech you will be asked to step out of the car for field sobriety test. refuse and you may be detained and have to go and have a breath or blood test. refuse that and you WILL go to jail. refusing a blood/or breath test will get you charged for refusal and the DUI. its called implied consent.

the side of the road is not the place to argue with the officer whether he is wrong in doing his job. that is what court is for.

my take if you want to act like these people expect to be detained longer than you would if you just cooperated.

Thanks! I am in no way excusing the behavior of those drivers.

One thing to remember is that they are the youth of America.. The "man" or system will take a mile if give an inch...and this goes to say on all levels including gun control.  So in a way, I am proud of these  pompass ass  kids for taking charge and standing up for what America was founded on. I can excuse their naivety for that.

But sorry to say that they are still damn stupid!

But I would like to ask how long does it take for a cop to figure out "it is one of those". I mean heck far 5 minutes into a conversation you should realize the guy is cognitive! Too much ego flying around if you ask me.

lol!  Im not for sure if that lawn mower vid is real but I tend to think it might be because if you look close you can see piss flying during the take down. Either way it is funny as hell. Every time I hear somebody say " I know my rights" I think about this vid.

What do you think ANY of these guys would do if they saw a guy carrying a AK or AR near a school where they had a kid, they would be on the phone calling the cops. They are idiots just screwing things up for the rest of us that legal carry without having to flaunt it in the cops face.
