Lot of talk bout the 800 going away and a east coast trail version of the 900 taking its place. It will have the tube chassis like the 1000 with the bigger fuel tank and better air filter again like the 1K but have the S suspension.

Why do people dislike the 900/1000 rear suspension? I'm coming from an a-arm machine and can't find any problem with it. Some have said it makes them more likely to flip, but I'm not feeling it trying to do so. I have the rear sway bar unhooked.

The XP trailing arm setup does not articulate like the S does. Watch a video of various machines crawling rough sections, the XPs do ok but the S models make it look easy. I love our new XP4 but it does not come close in the rough stuff to our 800.

I believe the ta articulates better.  All it does is swing up and down in an arc and should go over objects easier since the angle it moves along is in line with arc of the arm.  An a arm setup moves perpendicular to the direction of motion.  I think the reason some vehicles seem to do better is because they don't have the power to spin as readily as the XP does.  I've had trouble getting restarted on steep hills while my Rhino buddies have no issue...just bog and go.

Not going to argue the point but from someone who has both.....no comparison.

honestly there cant be that much diff in the two. other than the trailoring arms hanging down low...and we can fix that .it mostly the driver in all situations

I have owned both and believe the XP is a much better trail machine then the S. The only thing I don't like is the axle is to exposed.

PostSubject: Re: 900 S   Sun May 04, 2014 6:29 pm

I've had a 50" standard, a 58" with midtravel a Stock S and now the XP 900 4. I wouldn't go back for anything. I have atleast 2 more inches of travel now and the ride is several times better with my stock shocks then it was with 2 grand worth of shocks under my 800. I also have way more ground clearance with out cranking my shocks up and beating you to death The stock XP suspension does suck cause it hangs down. Once you fix that its a beast plain and simple.

As far as an S doing better on the trails. I say nope. A lot of that is driver. A 900 has more power then you can use a lot of times. Its much easier to break it lose or dig your self in on rock crawls. The extra power, clearance and wheel travel makes stuff easier then an S IMHO.. Now if your comparing a 2 seater S to a 4 seater 900 then that's apples to oranges. Even then though Id still say a 900 4 easily will do what an S can.

Its the power that most seem to like about the XP. Put all the power of a XP in an S configuration and no doubt it would be a home run around these parts.

Polaris keeps blinding us with these great concepts and when they hit the market, you and I will drool over them like being a kid in a toy store.

But in the end its still Polaris junk...lol
