After smoking an average of 2 packs a day for 31 years, I've been cig. free for 9 days now. A feat for pretty much a chain smoker.
I refuse to pay $5 for something that takes a half cent to make and I hope I can continue to refuse no matter how bad the cravings get.
I've already saved enough to buy one, "MAN TAR". lol!

Anyone else?

I used to smoke and dip. I have not had a pack of cigarettes in almost a year and a half..........have not had a dip in several months. If I could give up booze I would have it made lol!

Good luck man and hang in there!

Thanks y'all for the words of encouragement!!!!!!!!!! They DO make a difference !!

Clay, the only things I've done differently are, eat more chocolate, stay away from smoking friends and when I feel really wacked out or depressed over this, I go to bed. I actually feel better already just from the added sleep.

I feel better because he doesn't stink my vehicle up now. I am not a smoker, so I don't like the smell, & don't want to get 2nd hand smoke. It also stains the walls yellow.....so it's a nasty habit to me.

Go Hubby!!!! Make your wife proud!! :D

I gave up the booze a little over 7 years ago. I drank everyday and when my wife got pregnet with my little girl I decided to stop and have not had any since. I stil get the urge to have a beer sometimes after 7 years. After all that time it still has not went away.

It is amazing that I can go without booze while in training or deployed, but I can't turn it down when it's around here in the states. I know my wife hates it that I drink everyday.......maybe I can draw some strength from you DD.

Good for you DD I quit snuff after staring when I was super young and started daily since 6th grade so when I quit had been doing it daily(usually all day even in shcool) for 10 or so years and I just quit one day decided it was best for my health. I still have the urge for a pinch constantly but just gotta look the other way and force my way through it. I eat ALOT of sunflower seeds to distract me.. Many many people in my family and in Brandi's family are glad I quit snuff.

You got it just keep fightin the good fight. I'm with DC it stinks makes everything stink and yellow WTF

As I sit and watch my Sister die of lung cancer I hope and pray that you DO make it DD. Her cancer has spread all over her body and there is just no longer any hope at all. Just trying to make here comfortable for what ever time she has left. I too smoked for a lot of years and was able to stop cold turkey! Haven't had a smoke in almost 25 years now and was doin 2 packs a day when I gave it up. YOU CAN DO IT MAN! Just take it one day at a time. I bet I chewed a wheel barrow full of bubble gum until I could hack it without it. Sugar Free gum that is. he he he. Good luck man.

I dipped for 15 years. Quit cold turkey one day on my way home. Have not dipped since. After our first was born I just could not see him picking up the habit and then I looked at all the nasty pictures on the internet of the result of throat and mouth cancer. It was very hard and had a great wife to support me. I still have the urge to this day and have dreams that I have slipped. I have been dip free for almost 7 years. I was around 12 or 13 when I started for some stupid reason.

It is very worth it for yourself. I also thought about how stupid it would be when my child was 10 or 12 and his Daddy was gone because he could not quit some stupid bad habit. Now I have a 2 year old beautiful daughter in addition to my 7 year old that reminds me each and every day why I don't do that stuff. Just stick in there. It is hard but it does get easier as time goes on.

If it wasn't for this site (http://www.quitsmokeless.org/) I don't think I would have made it at work.
