| I had a 2004 600 PoPo Sportsman and loved everything about it EXCEPT EBS...never could get the hang of it and that was a big part of the reason I got rid of it. I just never could get used to blipping the throttle when I was going down a steep hill and not having 4wd unless you "fooled" it into staying locked in.
Do I understand correctly that the 2010 RZR has no EBS at all?
I think I could learn to "blip" easier if I had both a brake pedal and gas pedal to control...
How do you RZR owners handle steep decents?
I like the idea of a RZR...width, power, etc...I just have a hang up with the PoPo braking..

| Most of my seat time has been in a 08 RZR (other then my 08 Rhino 700). It has some EBS that works good enough. However, it is not the same as a rhino. But, I would still be fine with a RZR even if it did not have any EBS. The fun factor of that machine over comes some of its flaws. | |

| No the 2010 has no ebs built into it, the 08 and early 09 LE & standards do have it as well as all 09 S models. If you want EBS ive added it to mine and it is a awesome improvement when riding down the steep inclines we encounter at windrock and brimstone. If your interested pm me and i can tell you what you need, i even have most of the parts needed to do one more rzr im going to sell. Its a very easy job to do, takes less than a hour. | |

| yep, same parts are used in the 010 rangers as the 010 rzrs. The only thing i would need to check the secondary clutch and primary springs to see if they are the same but ebs is a easy thing to add. | |

| Okay to add EBS to a post 9-30-08 built RZR Standard or LE and a 2010 RZR, RZR-S or Ranger XP800 you need to change the clutching over to the pre 9-30-08 setup which is almost the same as a 09 S model except your EBS will operate off the Secondary Helix and not the one way bearing used in the 09 S primary. You can do this conversion 2 ways, You can look for good used parts on ebay or where ever or just buy it all new. 1) Older Secondary clutch design, from a pre 9-30-08 rzr. New 249.00 2) Shift weights 23-74 # 5632117 you need (3) 9.96 each 3) S primary spring 48/240 (red with white stripe) 7043349 19.79 4) Secondary spring from 09 S (red) 105-165 #3234452 40.78 5) A EBS helix either a stock RZR 65-62-60-58 or A 09 S with added EBS notch from Team Industries in 66-56-33, prices from team is 69.00 and 79.00 6) you also might need to run a 09 S belt, the 2010 belt replaced the 09S but sometimes it will cause secondary creep. Belt is a 3211130, 112.21 So to just order the parts your looking at 410.00 - 520.00 depending on if you need to go with the belt. But you can do this cheaper if you do a little searching around. I found the complete secondary's with the red spring and EBS helix for 200.00, then you just need the weights and primary springs so if you can use your 2010 belt it only costs about 250.00. Or if youre planing on doing mods like bigger heavier tires or motor work you can buy a complete clutch kit from Team for only 349.00 or from Dirty Dawg Performance for 500.00 ( but this includes a set of fully adjustable shiftweights that sell for 200.00) I have one complete Brand New Secondary with EBS helix and red spring ready to install im willing to sell if anybody wants to do the change over. 175.00 plus the shipping. This is one mod that is worth the money if you ride where engine braking is needed it works very well, mine can now go down the steepest decent in low with hardly ever using the brakes, this mod will pay for its self in brake pads alone over the long run. I will be glad to walk anybody thru the install which is simple and requires no special tools. | |

| Good info Gunny. But you would not need all those parts if you know how to drive the RZR.... I can tell you this. With the DD clutch kit you rarely need to hit the brakes going down hills. Well worth the money IMO. I like being able to creep when it gets steep. | |

| Two-feet is all you really need............To me, having both a RZR and a Ranger. It's just money wasted. $450 +/- not to have to two-foot??? | |

| Thanks for the info gunny. I'll ride some more before I decide.
Airborne, I know what you mean about being able to creep. All my Jeeps (up to my current one) were geared in such a way that I controlled downhill speeds with the throttle. I really never used brakes. If I needed to stop, I just killed the ignition. New Jeep is an auto and I am still getting used to it after 2+ years.
