Look what my 7 year old found this afternoon.

A nice knife and the big one is a 'Maples' both river stained chert. We found 12 other pieces of some very large knives and one Celt that was a proverbial heart breaker. The holding tip was broken off.

We look for stuff all the time. This area was a settlement ,but since there are no plowed fields around, can never find anything. I found a small piece of pottery once but that's all.

If you have any rocky creek beds near that should be a good place to look. Thats where we look, and where these are from, until plowing starts.

Collin found a Bat this evening. It was alive!!!!! We had heard a splash in the river, Bonnie thought a fish had jumped, it was the bat crashing into the water. Collin walked the bank and found him. He had swam to the bank I guess. He was breathing heavy and soaked. I put him on a log, he dried out and took off.
Just glad he didn't bite!!!! Really cool!! I wish I would have had the camera.

really like to check the field for arrowheads and its fun to do as well. congrats to you boy

That bring back memories.. Its been a long time since I found some of those...

we find all kinds of arrowheads and tomahawks,bones,skulls,beads in our fields. this passed summer we ran a new water line in one of the fields and the ditch witch cut into the top of and grave and broke a skull. it looked to be a younger person because most of the teeth was still on the jawbone. there is a cave near the field that has some indain bones in it also.
