| i heard some of you guys talking about having a tire vulcanized to fix a side wall hole.i have a small cut in one of my radial bounty hunters and a local dealer told me this process could not be done to an atv tire and that nobody in dalton does it anyway so i needed to just buy a new tire. the tire is 110.00 so if it can be fixed it needs to be. can any of you help me out? thanks | |

| Have the tire dealer remove the tire from the rim and put a good patch on the inside of the tire at the cut and then put a tube in the tire and it should be fine! | |

| You can do it yourself, its not a big deal. You need a monkey grip patch kit or a similar kit, dismount the tire, the key to getting this to work is you need to sand the rubber around the cut very good where you have a good raw rubber area to patch. Make sure the sanded area is larger than the patch. Next clean the area good with alcohol then its best if you can push the cut area down on a hard area like a brick or piece of wood . Then spread the glue over the area larger than the patch spread it evenly and here is the trick. Have your patch ready with the sealer paper off and ready to place over the cut, light the glue on fire and let it burn for a few seconds then blow it out and place the patch over it with the cut in the center and use something to press and roll the patch to get every part of it pressed down and sealed on the tire. Let it sit for an hour or so and mount it and it should be a good permanent repair. This wont work well if the cut is huge but a inch or smaller will seal good. As a added measure you can seal the outside of the cut with a good super glue like gorilla. here is a link to the type patch kit needed. Most auto parts stores have them. http://automotive.hardwarestore.com/90-545-tire-repair-kits/monkey-grip-radial-tire-patch-641201.aspx | |

| Tire shops are where you need to look. Call around a try to find one that vulcanize tires then go up there.
Don't tell what you want vulcanized because they will probably say no. You have to argue with the guys and tell them it is a low pressure ATV tire. They do not like to do anything to a side wall. | |

| I got a cut in my bighorn a couple weeks ago. I just removed the plugs and patched it. I've drove on plugs in sidewalls for years with NP so I'm not to worried about the patch. I made sure I refilled my stock of plugs on the RZR though just in case lol. They also have some plug/patch combos.. I couldn't find any but its pretty much a patch with a plug in the middle.. You apply it from the inside. I would have rather used one of those then just a patch. Might be another option for you. | |
