Well, guys I think this video speaks for itself, like I said, bottom end, 0-35 or 40mph they aren't that impressive. this was the 1000 model as indicated. Polaris has the Ranger 800 motor rated at 46 or 50hp I think? the 1000 is rated at 85hp. I'm not bashing here, I rode the 1000 twice and they simply aren't that fast on the bottom end.

to me the commander has to much power and did not hook up in the dirt, as you notice the big cloud of dust behind it
shows you better take off easy before you mash the gas otherwise good driving by the ranger guy

OK, that is your opinion, but this was a 250 ft sand track, 85hp should have made up for wheelspin in the first 150ft. your intitled to your opinion but like I said I've rode them twice at two diferent locations and the results were the same. the Ranger only pulled it a bike length out of the hole, it had 250 ft. to make up 1 UTV length? come on, it should have destroyed the Ranger....the RZR or Teryx will beat the Can Am in that same distance.

here is the origianl post, this was at the Can Am Nationals:::

I wasn't meaning to offend man, really, I was just making a point. the media and public seem to have been mezmerized by this machine, mainly the advertised 85hp 1000 engine. you can read many other forums and mag reviews with comments like "this thing is faster than anything else on the market and not by just a small amount" so much power.......Those statements simply aren't true.......it barely beat Polaris' version of the Mule in 250ft. with a supposed 35 more horsepower. The hype of the performance and motor is way overblown. That's all I was saying.....no offence or hard feelings I hope.

It is my understanding that Can-am has the 1000 governed on take-off. The throttle by wire system gave them the ability to do that. Basically the Ranger took off faster since the Commander can not start with full power. Guess it's like the "Spike Load damper" in the Arctic Cat 1000's -- they limit the torque spike to save components. The Commander 800 is allowed full power at take-off.
