| wvyankee2, thanks for posting my up coming event.
Introduction:
I am the promoter of this three day camp and ride event. I’ve been a part of the off-road community for over thirty years. I ride and promote events here in Tennessee. My main stay has been bikes for many years. I do however ride ATV’s and I’m working on my first sidexside.
I’ve been putting on events for many years and been a key player in a few organizations. I put on 4 or 5 events each year with my biggest event being the Fall Moto/ATV Trail Ride at the LL Ranch where I consistently have over a 1000 riders for 13-years.
I’m now diving into the sibexside world and will have my first SxS event in June at the LL Ranch.
Foxfire, I noticed you are not keen to all the rules. When you have events, you have rules for many reasons. As a promoter you have to enforce the land owners, insurance, and your own rules. If you don’t enforce rules you are basically acting recklessly and hold yourself open for liability. There purpose is not only just rules; it is education of the participants. Riding areas are being closed down if not weekly on a daily basis. These rules are very similar to the way the off-road community should act at any public or private off-road riding area. It is not only educating the adults it is also educating the younger crowd so when they become adults they will at least have a clue on how to conduct themselves. I’ve been told many times that my events are successful because of the way I conduct them including the “rules”.
Nocerisdave, how much did you pay to race the two or three hour GNCC race? This is a three day event with the trail open from 9 to 5 each day. I think 40 bucks is very reasonable considering how much all (including myself) of us spend on our toys.
I am glad to field anyone’s questions or concerns.
Happy Trails!
Tom

| Back then it was $20.00 to race and a required AMA membership. I guess I didnt read where the $40 was for three days....your right that is very reasonable. | |

| Most of the rules are fine minus the must wear gloves, helmets, and eye protection at all times. On quads and dirt bikes I could kinda of understand.. But belted into a SxS I see no reason for all that gear unless I'm on some very radical hills. Something tells me there isn't any trails like that there.. LoL if I had to wear a helmet gloves and boots In june in our RZR with its doors and windshield.. I'm pretty sure I'd die of heat stroke! 40 bucks per person for 3 days isn't that bad. 26 bucks per tent per night for primitive camping is pretty $$$ Hard to really judge prices if you haven't seen the place... | |

| Thanks for the comments.
The campground is very nice with big bath house, swimming pool, playground, volley ball court and a trout stocked river running through it. You can also swim in the river but it can be a little cool. Nearby is western town where you can tour Loretta Lynn’s house and visit her museum or shop in a few stores. There is power in many of the primitive spots so if you are tenting it you can run a fan at night. I’ve even seen a few portable air conditions stuffed into tents.
The safety gear; If you have a windshield no need for eye protection. Safety glasses or goggles also work. Boots are only recommended. You can wear shorts and short sleeve shirts if you choose. The number one thing is the helmet at all times while on the trails. The great thing is there is a cool swimming hole to relax in after your ride.
There are lots of hills. They are not terribly long, they are however steep in places. We maintain the trails here after each event with a Sweco machine so most of the hills have water bars and aren’t rutted out. These are trails not roads. In places they are narrow and off-camber. They have given a many of dirt bike and ATV guys plenty of challenges. I will also have a few optional advance routes/climbs for those who like a good challenge.
Hope you can make it to the event.

........ Tom, I hope you did not take offense to my comment. It pleases me to see that you came on and posted more info concerning the " Rules" and costs for this event. I understand that when one deals with an insurance carrier, rules must be followed. My comment was made based on the info that was given, as I am sure was Dave's and 8ball's. Since you forwarded further info, sparking further conversation, opinions have been changed. Smart move. Open conversation....ie. statements, questions and answers usually seem to fix issues. Please continue to keep us posted. Bryan | |

| Pet are allowed on a leash. Pre-registration ends June 4, 2011. I look forward to meeting some of you at the event. Here is some additional information on the UTV Trail Ride:
Southern Woods Rider (SWR) would like to invite you to attend the 1st Annual UTV/SidexSide Off-Road Trail Ride at Loretta Lynn’s Ranch on June 24, 25 & 26, 2011. SWR has hosted numerous Dirt Bike and ATV trail rides at this location. Our annual Fall Trail Ride consistanly has over 1,000 riding participants and we are anticipating 400 riders for this inaugural three-day event.
The trail we prepare is a clearly marked loop covering a large area of the ranch and consists of many challenges from narrow off-camber trails to plenty of hill climbs. SWR reverses the trail direction each day to change the trail up and adds some expert areas for those who want bit more of a challenge. On Saturday we hold a Night-time Poker Run that requires participants to ride the main loop in search of game pieces that they return to the start for a chance to win cash prizes.
Each event morning we hold a mandatory riders meeting where we go over the event rules, the days trail information and any special announcements. We also take this time during the meeting to thank our sponsors/vendors and give out a few donated doors prizes.
The Loretta Lynn’s Campground is a beautiful facility with a large bathhouse, swimming pool, playground, volleyball court and a trout stocked river running along the land’s edge. Just down the road is Western Town where you can tour Loretta Lynn’s house and visit her museum or shop in a few of her unique stores.
Thanks,
Tom
