1200 miles and shredded. I would say if your not gonna change it out at 1000 get a spare. I would also say it depends on your riding style. I got stranded about 10 miles from my truck. I am on number belt number three. Dont make the mistake I did and buy a Carlisle it lasted around 800 miles. There is a sign its about to shred, at least with mine there was. Mine started 'chirping' during deceleration and at idle while in gear. After shredding two I finally decided to follow some maintenance tips. Pull the belt and clean out the belt dust. Once its off wash the belt in warm soapy water, let it dry, and re-install. I have about 1300 miles on the current Polaris OEM one with very little wear.
