Russell Co., VA -- Three Russell County deputies were sent to the hospital last night after receiving injuries during a meth lab bust.
Major Bill Watson says they arrested James David Castle. He's charged with manufacturing and possessing meth, as well as having the ingredients to make meth.
Watson says it was actually an employee at a local store that tipped them off. They told authorities Castle was there buying ingredients used to make meth.
Deputies were able to track him to his home in Shortt's Trailer Park on Wysor Valley Road near Honaker.
Here are the details as to how the deputies were injured. Watson says Castle denied a search of his home and while waiting on a warrant, he went inside and grabbed the shake and bake meth lab.
Watson says Castle then ran out of the house and the officers went after him. He says Castle shook up the bottle, opened it and spilled it on the officers as they wrestled him to the ground.
All three deputies were taken to the hospital, given breathing treatments and released.
Watson says they will have to replace all of their equipment.
Castle is in Abingdon's Regional Jail. Watson says they will meet with Commonwealth's Attorney Brian Patton today to discuss more charges against Castle involving the actions against the deputies.
