On 11-5-11 the Windrock ATV Club had a ride to welcome the new members that have joined the club in the last few months. We had Rooster, Rhino Rider, MsRhinoRider, PWM, Knot, Bubbanewf, Jack and his friend, Winchworm and Amy, Jason and THE DALE!
We left shortly after 9am and headed out Trail 22. Was a little foggy getting started but by the time we hit the end of Trail 22 the sun was shining and burned off the fog. About 1/2 thru Trail 22 Doug announced that we had a tie rod end broke on Jason's KFX700. A Zip Tie and we were on our way. The creeks were especially nice today with just the right amount of water. We made it out to Gravel 5 riding the entire TRAIL 22. The bypasses I put in on the last section should make it a little easier on the novice riders. The Rock Ledges are still there for the ones that want to ride them.
We took off towards Trail 41. Riding down in Trail 41, Doug announced we had another tie rod broke on the KFX. Out came another Zip Tie. That would be the end of the tie rod problems for the day. We made our way down Trail 41 turning Left onto Trail 26 and out to Gravel 6. Crossing Gravel 6 we hit Trail 35. Then we took Trail 36 which has had some repair work done to cover up an exposed gas line. The Gas Line people did the work so don't expect much but it was somewhat improved down there. We came out of Trail 36 and headed over to catch Trail 27 all the way down towards Petros and the Creek Crossing where we had lunch. After leaving from Lunch it was decided we should go ride Trail 6 and Trail 49. We made our way over to Trail 6/G6. There were several in our group that had not rode this new trail system. The New trails seem to be holding up pretty well and hopefully will make it thru the winter without much maintenance.
We stopped at Jaba Point for a group picture and on out to Trail 42. We then took Trail 5 and made our way onto Trail 19. We finished the day with Trail 20, 2 and parts of 16 back to the parking lot. All total we had 40 miles and a good day on the trails meeting new friends.
