CV Boot Repair Empty
PostSubject: CV Boot Repair   CV Boot Repair EmptyThu Jun 21, 2012 9:59 pm

I was getting ready to head down to Brimstone tomorrow and was changing out 2 ball joints when I saw I have a pin hole in one of my front boots. It was too late in the day to order a new one so I'm gonna try to see what I can do to rig it up for the weekend.

I know I've heard of people cleaning it up real good and putting duct tape on it. I was thinking of cleaning it up really good with a little alcohol then using some rubber cement with a patch over it. Another buddy of mine mentioned using some RTV silicone over top of the area instead of the patch.

Does anyone have any thoughts as to one or the other or maybe even another idea? I'll stay away from the mud and crap and try to not to trash my CV. Thanks...

I used some high heat gasket sealant. Its still good after about 3k miles. Some one suggested to take some saran wrap on the trail as a temp fix.
