I have spinal arthritis and have had to have two major spinal surgeries. I have a bunch of titanium sheet metal and screws in my neck. I’ve had two disks in my neck removed and replaced with cadaver donor bone to fill the void and fuse the three vertebrae together. All held in place by two sheets of titanium sheet metal and six screws. Two of the screws I’ve managed to break somehow. Here is what my neck looks like inside now.

The lower part of my back is much the same. And I have three titanium pins holding my left shoulder together. And through all this I still have a burning desire to buy another motorcycle! I miss riding more than I ever thought I would. As a Veteran, I’d like to ride with the Patriot Guard and the American Legion riders. One of my “Bucket List Items” is to make the “Thunder Run” during the Memorial Day Holiday to the Viet Nam Vets wall in Washington D.C. At my age (62) everyone tells me that with all these health issues coupled with my age I’m nuts for even thinking about getting back on another bike. And I know that is probably the “Correct” answer. But is it the “RIGHT” answer? I’m really struggling with this decision hear folks. Help out the dummy a little bit and share your thoughts with me if you would be so kind. Thanks for your time.

How do you feel when you sit on a bike? Physically and mentally? Are you in pain? What kind of bike are we talking about? I could see where riding a hardtail Hog would be totally different from a Gold Wing trike.

You are headed in the right direction. I also believe that the right answer is not always correct. I would much rather go out a little early if it means that I was happy than sit around being bored to death.

Oh, by the way, if your back is in that kind of shape, what the hell are you doing still in a Rhino? Get yourself a RZR man!

Hard choice for an 'outsider'.
You already know in your heart what you want to do. If you are holding back because of loved ones, they should be part of the 'bargaining' process for a resolution.
The reality is, no matter what influences dictate the outcome, you will have to make a choice and decide to stick with it.
We just want you to be happy! king

Buy a RZR and go on club rides. I do it with the bad hip. Probably be on a cane most of the next few rides. This is my last (4th) surgery on July 3rd.

Really do what you want, if you think you can. If you have any 2nd thoughts, like I do about getting back on a mountain bike, then think twice and maybe not do it.

Hmmmm tough one Woody. I kind of like what Gimpy said but you don't want to be all crippled up either. I feel your pain but have no answer.

If you can then do it. However, if you wreck then you might be in really bad shape.

I am not real sure what to tell you buddy. But I know I will ride a SxS until I am not able.
