This is Susan (our daughter) Eric (son in law) and of course Ally the Angel at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. I know I'm probably nuts for thinking this but it almost seems like the Giraffe's could sense she was just a toddler and to be gentle. Susan said on that one platform they would stand there and let her pat and scratch them on the forehead as long as she wanted and were just easy as could be.

I don't think you are nuts about the 'toddler sensing' thing. Dirt Chic calls it, "puppy license", where adults can sense a juvenile and not be threatened by it's actions.
