What about trying this on July 4 weekend. I don't know if anything else big is going on that weekend, Nothing with me. July 4 is on a thursday, so take friday off too, gives a 4 day weekend, will be warm, if out all night for "whatever reason" will be ok. I will have the GPS maps by then also. The trails that we will be on will not be crowded.....lol.
Also, early enough that everybody can get dibs on reservations.

I would love to go on this ride, but my vote would be to please not do it on a holiday weekend, that probably would not work out with my wife and kids. I am sure plans will be made for me-going on a 4 day ride is probably not one of them.

I guess this could get expensive quick if we are having to buy passes for all the different parks. So wonder if we told all the parks we would be going through what we was doing if they would sell just a day pass since we would be in and out pretty fast.

Need a Brimstone pass and a WMA pass, to my knowledge, that is it.

I like the idea of this, lets not allow this plan dwindle away.
On a side note I am also working on a late summer ride from WR to Tackett creek and back. This is an approximate 200 mile round trip deal within an overnight stay along the way. I am not leading it but will be damn sure to use tracks on my garmin to do it again or share the route.

I have done the WR to Tackett Creek ride. It was about a year ago ago and I believe it was 180 miles the way we went. Great ride for sure!! I am in the process of going from home (WR) to KY , and then over to James in Mount Hope, WV. It is looking like about 450-500 miles on my route.

We need to start kicking this ride into gear, we are going to be riding that direction out of Trails End Campground now anyway.

I can get yall from Royal Blue to Evarts. Little fuzzy on one section from Martins Fork Lake to Evarts but Im pretty sure Ive got the tracks for it and could get us there. Dont know any from RB to Brimstone though.
Weve talked about doing this for a long time. Im down for it, even though having to buy out-of-state permits for RB and Brimstone would suck considering I usually only ride Brimstone once a year and never road RB. But Id do it if people were serious about this ride.

Thatd be bad ass. We could watch the fireworks display on Yellow Hill at Middlesboro if we timed it right.

My thoughts are to lay out the gps trails, then pass those out, have some cabins rented across the way, have folks break up into self sufficient groups of five or so and go for it. Other groups help as they can, but not restricted to stopping until other group fixes their flat tire. We will all be strung out from here to there but that offers help almost everywhere at the same time.

I've led many group rides......some might remember the January 2011 ride I led @ WR. We had 2 groups, was supposed to meet at 1 spot. Other group had breakdowns, and we lost radio contact. We waited 3 hours in 5 degree weather in the dark, people were getting mad, so we all decided to go on. Big groups + splitting up = problems.
If I can be of any help, please PM me or call me.. . . I have logged over 17,000 miles.

That was a few years ago and you did right by me. However, the radios we use now have a much better range. It is easier to keep up with other groups.

Your so right R, riding technology has came a LONG way since '11. What good times!
I still think it would be best if doing this ride to stay in 1 group, and keep it under 8 machines. Even if you have no breakdowns, getting 15-20 machines through technical sections is going to use a lot of time.
Me and Hot Rod Rhino have recently discussed going from Windrock, then getting into Bell ,ky. then crossing over into WV, and getting back to James' place in Beckley, WV.

I believe that we are just down to a WMA pass, we can bypass Brimstone.

Trying to map out Trails End to Royal Blue, assuming I have a WMA permit. Need input and corrections...going the fastes way the first time. Looking at Dan's Maps which I have a legal copy.
Leave Trails End, either take the road around or, trail 1, to trail 7, then need to get to the washed out bridge, been there before not sure of the name, take county road #25 to #23 to #22 ( I have been to the overlook on 22), take blue easy trail and avoid overlook, go to Norma Road, to Turley Road, do I run Old TN 63 up to white road? How do I get to sinking Creek road to cross the interstate? Any help is appreciated.
Anybody know how long this will take running fast, and not stopping?
And, if the Brimstone PD stops me on 1 what do I tell them?
Dan

Fast,Easy way to cross I75... From Turley, take Old TN 63 north, right on TN63 1/2 mile, left onto Stinking Creek Rd... goes over I 75 @ Exit 144... ~1/4 mile turn right onto Sundquist 10.

The problem is not all of 1 is multi use. You would be faster leaving TE and going around the road past trail 7 straight to 25. Once you pass 7 it isnt too far to 25 couple of miles. I would go 25 to 23 back to 25 and come out at the swinging bridge.

When the nights start getting alittle warmer I think we should try it. Run the easiest trails up and the more technical on the way back.
