Anyone have any experience with Toyota 4Runners as occasional wheelers?

I bought one in 1990 and it was a bit heavy for the available power. However, we just bought a 2004 to replace my wifes Highlander that I blew up. I don't know how they do offroad but they are pretty good daily drivers.

Not looking for anything serious. I just thinking a 4th generation for a daily driver and maybe eventually a slight lift. I'm either going to go with a 4Runner or Cherokee.

Pate, I had an 04 Grand. We had electrical issues out the arse. We had a 94 Cherokee that was bulletproof.

We had an 04 Grand that was trouble-free (4.0). But anyways, i'd prefer SFA over IFS anyday on a full-size rig.

Some 4th gen runners, limiteds I think, had a rear locker with.a switch on the dash from the factory. It will only lock in 4 low but some simple wireing it can be made to lock anytime.
