| Alright I am tired of having to reach my dash to get to my winch controls. I have seen a few remotes wired and wireless. I am a cheap bastard and I am always looking for the cheap way out. Wired is what I want to do and be able to leave the under dash controls, under the dash, and maybe run a control off of it. Any suggestions? Remember I am a cheap bastard. | |

| Humm Dave I don';t really follow you there. What we did with Mikes winch is coiled up the finger switch, I'd guess you'd call it, did not mount it, in the glove-box. He whips it out (we extended the leads) and can control the winch while holding on to the wheel with 1 and a half hands, follow me?? You must have hard-mounted your control?? right?? in or on the dash or something?? Jimbo |

| I think this is why i am going with a Vipermax 4500 pound winch. with senthetic rope. it comes with a corded remote. but for only $30.00 you can get the wireless remote. i read people that have a wireless remote. seem to like it very much. and it dont cost as much as i thought..... | |

| chris hit it on the head!!
aint nothing cheap about these things.... now there are ways to be more frugal about things...
and the link that Yank posted should be exactly what you need...
I have heard, read and experienced good and bad things from wireless and wired... I think its preference...
personally - I dont have a winch... but when I do get one - it will be wired - and keep it coiled int he glove box.... someone on here has there attachment port in the recess of the headlight rather than the dash (couldve also been on rf.net though)
and synthetic rope is the only way to roll if oyu are buying one - if you already have one with cable - no biggie - when it breaks or wears replace it with synthetic. | |

| here is what I have.....I bought American made...Waren 3000 lb with the synthetic rope....with wireless remote RT30. I have had the Prowler buried 4" from the top of the dump box and the winch pulled it right out. I did not mount the wired rocker switch, but have it all gathered up under the dog house. I mounted the holder for the remote to the dash right next to the key. I have found the wireless to work GREAT.....my 2 cents. | |
