OK i got scared Empty
PostSubject: OK i got scared   OK i got scared EmptyFri Jul 11, 2008 4:08 pm

OK yall will think i am crazy but i got Scared, after rideing around in the back
and looking at it. with my big XTR's on , i am thinking the 2-5 in the back just sticks out way to far for the trails. i mean there out there. i could be wrong. but it looks that way to me. well the deal is the type 7 polished has been discontinued. and thay ant makeing no more. so nick at UTV crap has a pair of the 5-2 offsets left.
so i told him to send them to me. i will keep the ones i have. but just in case.
he said if i put a 1 inch spacer on the rear with 5-2 the back and front will be exactly the same. witch is what i wanted all along. a little wider all the way around. but equal all the way around. does that make since..... :D
now i will just have a extra pair of wheels. but at least i will have them. if i did not get them now. i would never be able to. thay stick out so far now, thay seem like thay would catch on a tree. also i dont like my rotor guard showing.
maybe i am just being paranoid. it looks good as hell. but i am trying to make the utimate woods machine. that setup is great for the sand guys , but i just ant so sure about the woods. but now i have both... Wink

also what brand of fender flairs yall like best. the meirs looks pretty good.
what do yall use.

Chris

dude - wtf?

that setup is the best all around riding setup for sand, woods, racing, trails, or even just round the house stuff.

2+5 on the rear is the only way to go... I think you just screwed up and spent some unnecessary money.

Spacers will put extra strain on everything = let the wheel do it - thats what it is designed for...

just my thoughts - but I would tell him to keep the 5+2 rears.

oh by the way - I ride some damn tight trails with 5+2 fronts and 2+5 rears = and have NEVER had a problem....

notice though - my nerf bars stick out just as far as my rears and offers some more protection....

FORGET THE 5+2 REARS AND SPEND THAT $ ON NERF BARS....

hell you could use em for the front and put something wider up there!! I know guys that run 2+5 up front - that to me is a lil much - but they do it - and race it - IMO not the ideal set up...

tough to sell 2 wheels - and you can always buy anything - yeah it may be used or may have to pay shipping - but its a hell of a lot easier to buy something than to sell it....

just my thoughts.

you are right - alot of folks run MANY different offset setups.... Shawnley just proved that too...hell, look at the T-rex W and Laura are riding in - looks like the are in a golf cart Wink

And the dude that sold the wheels is right - you can add 1" spacers to those 5+2 rear and acheive the same - there is nothing wrong with running spacers, as long as you know there are added strains - but nothing terrible....

oh, and Im not freaking out - I just hate seeing folks making the same mistakes I and others have made - essentially wasting money - especially after asking and researching....

I am also one to always ty it on a RIDE first - then go back and change it.... you'd be surprised what is different out on the trail vs just riding round the house and neighborhood....

2+5 with 11" tires will put you right at 61" from outside to outside on the rear. Too wide for a 5' trailer for sure. 5+2 with 9" tires will give you 54 1/2" from outside to outside on the front. which is 1" wider than stock. With 5+2 on the back you should have 55" across the back which will be wider than the front without spacers.

I have the 5+2 offset with 1" spacers and no way would I want to go any wider. I may even take off the spacers until I get some 11" tires in the back. I am running 26-12-12 and it throws mud everywhere. I would go with the 5+2............my two cents.

this is what i was thinking Marty. right now it is quite a bit wider in the rear.
i would like about 1 inche wider in the back than the front. right now its about 3 inches wider on both sides. about 6 all together. its a little extream.... Wink

just my opinion of course. right now not even fender flares would help you
in the back. flares only cover about a 1 1/2 at best , with these big XTR's you would need a flare to cover almost 4 inches on each side. and thay dont make that. if i used a different tire smaller it might be alright. like i said now i will have both offsets and i can do whatever i need.... cheers

I have flipped my stock wheels several times because I forget how much hitting a tree, for example, will yank the steering out of your hands, and if you have a thumb or two in there, you will need to pick them up and take em to the emergency room with you so they can sew them back on after the steering wheel rips them off. Flipping the stock rims puts the width at about 60 inches. Maybe its different with rims that are made with an offset,,,,,

I have been thinking about this for a while and what I have decided to try is 5+2 front and 4+3 rear. My 07 has 5+2 all around and sometimes I rub the rear un-expectedly on rocks and trees but that may have something to do with the driver. What do you guys think about the 5+2 / 4+3 ?

if you have ITP wheels that are 12 inch , thay dont make a 4.3 only 2.5 and 5.2
i was told to get the set up you are talking about. witch is what i want. is if you have 5.2 all the way around just add a one inch spacer to the rear. and the front and the rear will have the same track all the way around. this is what Nick at UTV Crap told me today. and thats what i am going to do... Wink

The Yank has 4+3 on all 4 with 1" spacers on the rear.
