660 differential mount rebuild

This was one of several 660 chassis I've redone the mount on after it was ripped out.I know they make diff supports for these.I don't see most of them being a fix of the issue because on my first one that came to the shop years back that's what we tried to do first.Then he got it stuck and put a receiver in the back and when the jerked it out the leverage broke the bosses out of his diff..I'll show you my new drop in and weld set up after this one.I've made a jig that positions the diff in factory location for the chassis they didn't catch in time.

You can see the holes in the diff are pretty egg shaped.I bored them to 7/16 to take the slop away.

This is the pics of the new design that drops over your factory mounts and welds in.Putting the bridge across the top of the diff in my opinion is the only way to permanently fix the problem.I also give the bolt way to much surface area to chew threw like they do on the factory sheet metal tabs. \

Yes,not everyone can weld but paying someone to weld it in is cheaper than a $2300.00 chassis I was quoted from a dealer.This has been a while ago so it could have went up or down by now.
I'll post more pics of this one once I get kinks out of it.This kit will be shelved and in stock.I've already got a list of people wanting them installed around here.

I had to have mine repaired. Both front and back mounting tabs on the drive side broke. Not anything like some of the pictures you have posted but I still popped two CV's before I figured it out.

The extent of my welding skills have been these instructions ........ "Hold this" and "Turn your head". I get to see a before and after and hear a ouch every now and then. We have the equipment in the shop and I keep saying I am going to learn but never have.

The kit consists of (2) grade 8 7/16"x 6" bolts ,(5)SAE flat washers,10mm lock washer and 10mm x 30mm bolt and 2 brackets with 1/4 thick spacers welded to them to space the brackets out far enough to get around the factory mount.This gives the bolt a 1/2 of material on ea side to eat threw instead of the 11 gauge sheet metal it rips threw and rids the twisting motion applied by the diff to the factory mount.In addition wraps around to the lower boss on the diff for additional support.Kit cost is $85.00+ shipping payable threw PayPal.For an additional $20.00 I'll send a 12" long 7/16 drill bit that will save some time from having to pull the diff out of the machine to drill the holes out to 7/16.The factory bolt are 10mm and you can not get a long enough bolt to go threw all of it in that size.You'll probably find that you'll be 1/3 of the way threw your diff before you start to remove any material because the twisting motion egg shaped the holes in the chassis mount and the diff.You will need a way to clean the factory powder coat off,welder,and a drill with a 7/16 drill bit.If you have these tools your as good as gold if not take it to a local weld shop that does.I know that seams like a lot to fix a factory problem but this kit in my eye's is the only way to fix your problems with your 660 chassis and not just put a bandaid on the problem with one of the other diff supports.I've found some very misleading info out there.I've been down the road of a bolt on diff support to find out later it causes problems else where if you continue to use the Rhino in hard conditions.Here are some pics of the one I installed tonight.The factory mount on the drivers side had cracked and fell apart.I just cut that side off to give the new bracket a flat surface.If you find yourself in this position you need to space the diff bracket out the thickness of the factory mount.Otherwise the bracket will hit the diff..If interested PM me here or feel free to call 419-953-8509 with any questions and I'll get you fixed up.

This is why the 12" drill bit works well.Saves you from having to drop the diif out the bottom to drill the holes.This pic is of the one prior to the one above.But you can drill all the way threw the factory mounts and diff with it in factory position if you take the upper A arm bolt out for the drill to clear.

Yes these kits are still in cerculation.419-953-8509 if you have a 660 you will need these.Not a matter of if.It's a matter of when the diff pendulum trashes your chassis.I'm no salesman just a guy that's been around these chassis and trying to save you money in CVs,axles,driveshafts,and a chassis.not forcing you to buy garbage.I'll explain what it does and if you don't want it atleast we got to BS about our sxs's. lol
