| Anybody been on the fence about getting the 1000 but all of the problems you hear and read about keep telling you to wait?
It seems that they have more problems than even the very first generation of the first 800rzr.
The list seems to go on but things that bother me is stuff like:
Stupid driveshaft design Wrong clutch design (belts breaking) Cheap pistons and oil burning
Or do you think these problems are over exaggerated?

| Both come into play I think. I make it a point to never buy a first generation anything, you will be much more likely to have issues. That being said, I don't think that you can look at the big forum and think that it is a very good indicator of the number a people that are having issues relative to the number of people that aren't. There's going to be a lot of folks who either aren't on the forum or just don't post. I'm not the type of person that has to have the biggest, fastest, or latest everything. And I have zero issue with waiting a year or two for the manufacturers to work the bugs out. Out of the problems you listed the only one that scares me is oil burning problem. That could get expensive to fix. The others are relatively easy fixes. The good news is that Polaris is aware of the problems. How soon they will fix the problems is a mystery. | |

| you cant build thousands on thousands of anything and every one be perfect. just buy the ext. warranty and hope for the best, and that goes for any brand. One thing about polaris is they upgrade in real time, if something needs to be fixed, soon as they have it figured out they do the change to everything coming off the line. Some brands wait till the next model year to implement upgrades that they feel are minor and not safety related. | |

| I really like my XP 900. I have considered buying a new 900 and changing everything over. So I guess I don't really want a 1000 at this point. | |

I have never been so mad at myself for selling my 900 to get a 1000 Two things that really bothered me on my 900 were the front diff and snaping ball joints. Other than that I was happy with it. Rite after I sold it a couple people came out with a billet diff case and you can get a-arms with unaballs. It appears to me the new 1000 has way more issues than that for alot of people. I have been trying to wait it out hoping Polaris will fix all this crap on the 1000 but its not looking real good.

I am still in the very first rzr that Polaris made. It is red with black doors but the only thing on the doors are scratches. It's still going strong and I swear every time I ride it, the hour meter and miles tick backwards like in that movie Christine. But definitely time for a new one- The 1000 has really grabbed my attention and I go back and forth trying to decide if I want one but too many bugs at 20K for now imo.

| To me it was a no-brainer. The 900 is a heck of a machine and now that the 1K is out there are deals to be had on the 900s. One could argue that there is a world of difference between an 800 and a 900. Is there as much of a difference between the 900 and the 1K? Is the 1K going to take you places that the 900 won't? Will it get you there any faster or more comfortably? I don't think so, that is the reason I went with the 900 and am taking that extra money and putting it into upgrades. | |

I agree with you. I honestly think that it is the wisest option for right now.

| They really do seem to be having a lot of problems. I have the same thinking.. I don't buy first year anything.. Not when it comes to my daily driver or my toys.. There is always first year problems. And honestly Polaris sucks ass when it comes to taking care customers after they have their money.. They make tons of small changes and the early buyers are just left out in the cold. Its been that way with EVERY single model. It blows my mind why people are still surprised. They pretty much never have recalls if your lucky there will be a service bulletin on the major stuff several months later. Tons of small improvements to the 900s over the last few years some pretty major like the starters and transmission mounts. Obvious weak spots in the earlier models, but your left holding the bag if yours fails out of warranty.. A lot like the 800 four seater rear diffs. or the 2010 800s transmission. They know what the common design problems are. They just sit on their hands hoping your warranty runs out before it fails. Or maybe they can deny it because of after market parts..
The drive line problems on the 1k seem to be the worse and most wide spread. Its very obvious that they weren't welded up correctly from the factory. So far I haven't heard of Polaris fixing a single one.. They do the front rephrase deal which does not completely fix the problem.. The rear shafts have to be replaced or cut and rewelded.. Dealers are just telling everyone the vibration is normal cause they all do it lol. Wonder what kind of increased wear that's going to cause on the front diff and transmission. If you get a 4 seater good luck keeping a belt on it for any amount of time..

No I ordered the Titaniunm. The black perl looks pretty good but I cant tell how good it looks by the pictures on polaris's web site. I know I like the titanium one so I just went with it.
