Pickett was LONG over due for a visit. headed up yesterday to see what we could get into. T100 was the 1st real test of the day. It proved to be a big challenge. Tim Jeffers 900 sheared off a tie rod bolt on the first climb. luckily we found a bolt and nut close enough to the proper size to get him fixed and back on the trail. I wanted to do Horse Rock as we always love to take new folks across this seat creasing trail. However once we got there we found that some SAFETY NAZI had felt that the trail was too dangerous and had taken a saw and cut trees down all along the length of the cliff. needless to say it was much too hot to clear this mess....I will go back this fall/winter and fix this! That left the only other option of going up the t2 wash. The 1st two machines didn't have any trouble...however Tim's machine must have sustained more damage on T100 than we realized, he had just started the climb when the machine made a sudden move to the right up the bank and put him on his side. After we got him righted he made the climb up the rest of the way. As I watched him climb the last section I noticed something didn't look right. Upon further inspection the cast mounting flanges on the left side of his steering rack had sheered off. his day was done...we limped it the last 2 miles to pavement. We left his machine at a farmers house. He got in with me and we finished the rest of the day without any further incidents. We managed to cover 58 miles the rain kept the temps down as well as the dust.
