| Subject: Two-way radio antenna question... Sat Apr 11, 2015 11:36 pm | |
| I have lost my antenna to my two-way (Kenwood) radio. I bought a new one but I am having trouble installing it. I can't figure out what I'm missing the antenna base is threaded on the inside but I don't know what it is supposed to thread onto.Any help would be appreciated. | |

| Be aware that the antenna bracket should be attached to a metal not plastic part of your machine (meaning grounded.) The ground plane is an important part of the antenna system.
Call me if you have questions. | |

| I mounted mine to the back of the plastic roof then I ran a ground wire to the base. | |

| I am planning to mount it to the back edge of my aluminum roof, it should be low enough that branches won't touch it. Thanks again for all the information, you'all are the best! | |

| I wondered why my 2-way just wouldn't "reach out there" when I had it mounted to my plastic roof. Mounted it to the new aluminium roof. On scan I pickup all kinds of stuff now even chatter from a hospital 30-miles away. Amazing what a little grounding does.

| One other thing MASON always said to run a ground wire and the hot direct to the battery (with a fuse in between on the hot) so as to not have any static issues. | |
