Ok so I have this Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 that I hardly ever use. I buy $85 worth of RAM mounts and $20 worth of GAIA Topo map app software and you have a kick ass 7" GPS. Then you add your tunes and a Bluetooth soundbar with 4 speakers and a 300 watt amp and you have a really nice set up. Check it out. Picking up my soundbar from SidexSide Audio this week. Will post pic when in.

I was wondering how the GPS works? You don't need Wifi or phone service?

Nope, I've got back woods navigator on my Galaxy tap S. I've carried it on the trails a few times. Most android tablets have built in GPS antenna. Just have to use apps that don't require internet to view maps.. I use the same tablet for a GPS in my truck with an app called Sygic.. I like it much better then my stand alone GPS's.. It also doesn't need internet. It saves all the maps onto your tablets internal memory or SD card. You can pick and choose what states you want or have them all if you don't care about space. It lets you go back and readd states or remove them anytime you want. Course to add you do need to have internet access..

Just TOPO's right now. People share some trails though.

With a Maverick, you are going so fast and having so much fun that you often need a GPS to get home.

I've been using an android tablet for 2 years now. I use the 10" Sony Experia Z -- it's waterproof and stable. Can be found for around $250 on ebay refurb occassionally. My first tablet was not waterproof and I soaked it at Brimestone. The next was a Pantech waterproof but I thought it was the stability issue so I bought the Sony. The issue really was the BackCountryNavigator app.
As for maps the group I ride with (TriadTrailBlazers) has found BackCountryNavigator unstable for full day rides. It will eventually lock up. Worst thing is when it locks up it forgets the last 30 min or so. That's an issue when deep woods exploring. Orux Maps is far better and has yet to have an issue.
The below thread's by BobT will give you some links to Map's he has made or found. He has most in WV but not many in your area. I think the Cumberland one's he attached (not his maps) I used at Royal blue.
Another item to remember is get a charger capable of 2 amp output (10w per port) and a cable that is 2amp rated. The 2amp cables are 28/24. The first number is the gauge of the data wire while the second number is the gauge of the power wire. You can look that up on ebay or amazon.

I just happen to see a rzr with a I pad mounted in it at Trails End a couple weekends ago. It was showing where he was at and the trails around the area were labeled. He was not around to ask. Is there a app with trails already loaded? If not how does a person get a hold of something like that.
Thanks

Yes that was me. I use an iPad with MotionXHD App. The only down fall with that app is that it can only load 300 way points so I have to pick and choose what maps I load. I cant load all of the trails for TWRA, Windrock, royal blue, and brimstone at one time. I load what trails I think I will be riding. It works great and I can also you google earth too. I also have a garmin nuvi with Dan's maps loaded on it. I just like the big screen of the iPad.

Thanks for the help guys! I am headed in the right direction now. Now I have to talk my wife into buying me a I pad. I already loaded the app to the phone. I spend a $1.99 for the app. She spends $400 or less on a I pad. Lol
