| As much as we try to keep the group close inevitability we always get strung out somewhat. I was thinking it would be nice to know where everyone in the group is at all times. These days everyone carries a cell phone and some of us have tablets. There are a couple of apps we could use to keep track of everyone. I'd like to see us start using some sort of tracking gps.
I'd like to hear everyone thoughts:
1) Polaris ride Command - In vehicle model & Mobile APP 2) trkr app : Live DPS tracking
Good thing about ride command is maps can be loaded of the trails we ride.
Thoughts? | |

| I like the idea, if you remember during the spring ride Goose broke down. The problem was after I found a truck and trailer, I did not know how to get to the location. maybe it could help with that also. the problem with ride command is the cost, and the reports that its not working well right now. so if we could find an app for the phone I would be in. | |

| You don't have to buy a Ride Command, there is a free Ride Command app. | |

| I did a little test with the ride command app on the way to work this morning. It worked well and mph. Matched up the the speed on my truck, and it saved the route. Looks like it will be a good thing to have. | |

| If I am understanding correctly you are wanting to see other riders in your group on your Ipad/cellphone GPS app. I don't believe Ride Command will show the other riders in your group when you do not have cell coverage (data). It will however still show your location. I believe LeadNav has this feature as well but you will need data in order to send your location to the other riders in your group. | |

You are correct, both apps require cell service to update the app as to were members of the group are located. Where we ride in TN & KY cell service is spotty but I think it might be good enough for periodic updates. I think a few of us will try it next week and see if it's doable.

Does it make a difference if this app is loaded in an iPad or iPhone? Is the GPS capability in one better than the other? Mark
