Heading out to the Wagon Wheel tomorrow. (Updated with pics)

Also -- Spring works also in case I did not make it clear. I have to deal with kids birthdays in October and November along with the Thanksgiving and Christmas stuff. The week and a half I'm in Utah (Paiute Trail -- YEA!!!!) in late Sept is also limiting my local riding. I ride alot in January, Feb, March and April. Just pick the timing and let me know. As long as it's not the weekend of March 21 I should be good to go with some notice. From now til the end of 2008 is tight but I know early next year is wide open!! I tend not to pay attention when I ride but am comfortable enough now that I don't worry about getting lost. My GPS is pretty well marked in that area if it's needed.

Good write up and pic Roameer. I say we think about planning a weekend group ride there in late April, early May 09 time frame to let people plan and hopefully we will get a good large group of us that can come. Maybe wait till June and plan a week there? I agree that we should stay at the KOA. It has the most accomadations for a larger group, and by far the best facilitys. Only thing is we will need to plan this way in advance for all of us to get reservations at the KOA Kabins. These rent out quickly on weekends. They have right now 11 Kabins, 3 Cottages, and 2 Ashland Lodges. If we get a large group we will need them all. And maybe as a large group we can get a discount if we rent them all. The Lodge's and Kottages are very expensive though, but maybe some people could share them. Here is a site map and rate sheet. The Octagon shaped area at the top of the site map would be the perfect place for a large Conference Meeting.

I enjoy the mini-stairsteps alot. The hills on the left are steep enough that I tend to spin all the way up them on my Outlander. I have not taken my Rhino to that area but will the next time I ride there...

i have seen pics of the mini steps but i have never seen them and i have rode there ror 7 or 8 years

bush-rhino -- The ministairsteps are somewhat near the tressles. I have a heck of a time finding them and have been 5 or so times. I've got it marked on my GPS as coordinates N37°27.507' W81°19.788'. That area really is a blast. We normally play there for 30 minutes or so before going on...

Want a neat view? Check it out on Google Maps. That will give an idea of the trails around it. Scroll to the right and slightly up and you will see the tressles (or at least the set that is commonly crossed even though sign says no crossing).

Scroll all around and look at the number of trails. Thousands of miles of trails. I wish google had a winter map and it would be amazing at the trails available. There's a reason why I tell everyone I love WV!!

bush-rhino, if you know how to get the the tressles from Kays Outpost or Wagon Wheel (outpost is closed now) take the gravel road then before you get to the 90* turn in the road (the bridge that was missing a guardrail for a long time)........anyway. There is a split off to the right just before that bridge/turn take that and it will lead you to the mini steps. I realize how those directions sound to those who don't know the area LOL

I figured if I posted about that area in WV then Neuro would chime in. He knows the area alot better than me. I'm just a rider that keeps making turns. As long as I have my GPS then I don't worry about gettin' lost... :pirat:

A RZR went up the last stair step behind you, on the right side.

The Irishman did conquer that last obstacle to the top. BobbyD told me about it last weekend. All I can say is WOW! I am definately impressed with that. Had to be Kodak moment. Does BobbyD have that on video somewhere?

A Can Am Renegade with 500 miles on it that didn't make it up that hill you were standing at! The wheels and tires were taken off within hours.
