Wheels your question on difference between fiber rope an cable.the cable will hurt you big time if it brakes or comes loose under a hard pull .The rope will fall slack as soon as any thing goes wrong. thats the tow men in me speaking, got several scrapes on head over years . Gary

I try not to get any chemicals on it like WD-40 or the like but I have never had any problems or have known of any in the Jeep world.

I have a syn on my Jeep also and will never use a wire cable again. The syn like Gary said will not hold any energy and whip when broke. It also does not leave nasty little barbs to catch your hand on when working with it. It floats, easy to take on and off the spool you do not have to fight it. Its stronger than cable and it does not kink. The only down side is it does not like high levels of heat and it could fray on sharp edges and snag on stuff but I think the benefits out weight the draw backs by a long shot.
