| I was thinking about running next to softest setting on the Progressives once I get home. What do you guys think. I got the extra set of HD springs that they were nice enough to provide, but I think I will leave them off until I actually do add the 4-seater sometime next summer. | |

| I'd go ahead and put the HD springs on. If you put the Progressive rears on I would set them at the setting 1 short of hardest. The Progressive rears are already shorter than stock so I would not go too soft or they will sag.
Just my opinion. | |

| I am adding a 2" lift from Moose. I have heard that a lift will make the ride harsher, so that is why I was planning on the softer setting. You really think it will sag? All I carry is a cooler and a gas can. | |

| My experience with the Progressive Rear HD Shocks was that they were weaker than stock. I turned (up the threads)the preload adjustment up as far as I could and they were still lower than stock. This was with the rear cage and seats but without passengers. They do "sag" more than stock since the initial spring compression is weaker than stock. I'm certain that the Progressives will sag more than stock even with an empty rear bed. The Rhino is rear heavy stock (my guess is 65+% of weight is on rear).
I ended up adding a 2" lift in the rear but that really only gives about 1" in height. I could not feel a ride difference with just a lift. I later replaced the Progressive Springs with EPI HD springs and my ride height is now great -- taller than stock. The ride is now harsh when the back is empty but adding just 50 lbs in the rear makes a big difference. I am considering removing the rear lift now since I have plenty of height. I purchased the lift to offset the weak Progressive springs but the lift was not enough.
The front progressives are great with just a little (1/2" of threads) preload but the rear progressives are not the same. The Rear does require more adjustment to get them how you like them. | |
