Loss of power and cutting out Empty
PostSubject: Loss of power and cutting out   Loss of power and cutting out EmptyTue Nov 11, 2008 9:38 pm

Well I finally have my frontend back together.. Another issue has come up. The rhino has lost lots of power and cuts out around 30 MPH. It almost like the e-brake is on. It seems to have about 60% power low end and past 30 it dont want to run. When I pull the choke it seems to run a little better. Fuel flow maybe? Here what I have checked so far

Fuel filter changed out
Clean air filter
no mud in the exauhst cooler thingy
Plug changed out

Could it be a semi clogged main jet? Or any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. WHere is the best place to start the process of elimination, after the above?

I'd pull the carb and clean it Dave. Sounds like the mains got some gunk in it. If it's been sitting a while, good possiblity.

sounds like the main jet is too lean weather and temp do affect a carb and it could be clogging the main jet making it run lean

And Dave use mini-needle nose vice-grips to get the float-bowl screws out. You will NOT get them out with a phillips-head. Then go to Lowes and buy some allen-head replacements.

If you have a Hunterworks CDI, make sure the brother in law switch wasn't switched.

Also may be a fuel pump. Take off the fuel lines and blow them out. I've had that silicone from the tank in mine.

Does it run ok at idle and slow speeds? Could be the clutch caked up if so.
