| I figured I should start a new post on this problem with my motor and quit hijacking the X-mas thread.I called the service manger just to see what they were going to do to my motor. The service manager said they would do what they did last time new head, piston, rings etc etc.I said I did not think that would fix the problem since that was done 3 months ago and he said i would have to call Polaris so I did which was a waste of time and they said i would have to go thru the dealer and have them tell my concerns to their rep.I called back the service Mgr and told him i called Polaris and they said that he needs to voice my concerns to their rep and see if I could get more done than just a top end so the service mgr said he woiuld try and get something else done so we will see. | |

| If they are offering a head, pistons and rings, ask them to bore it, the cost of 10 over pistons would be same as stock. They would only be out the cost of boring. But except that as a last resort, ask for a new motor! | |

His was done at the same time as mine.We took them to the dealer together and picked them up at the same time and both had the DFR airbox installed at time of rebuild.I also have a buddy in Ohio that brought his up and had it done at the same place as ours not long after we had ours done. The Irishman's is also starting to use oil again.

| I say just let them do the new head, piston, rings, etc.. I would not ride it when they finish. Just sell it to me for $3500. There's no need for you to mess with it any further. On a serious note (I will offer $3500 though....) once it's rebuilt take a hard look at the intake and install a snorkel if needed. The Grandson of the owner's of Pinnacle Creek moved his airbox up high and that looked good. He had the same issue and Polaris rebuilt his motor also. Snorkle it and verify the snorkel works by making sure you can kill the motor by closing the intake. Get the intake/airbox up high -- it seems to be in the worst spot stock. Calling the Mfr will not help. They hear so much bull already. Mudders want a waterproof SxS, hillclimbers want a long wheelbase goat, and rock players want 25" of wheel travel. Try calling Can-am or even Honda. The response will be not great with those either.... | |

| Bobby,
Yank has got a point. This is not good advertisement for Polaris. We reach a lot of people.
I would get it fix and sell. You should not have to do this. However, you are forced into a bad situation. My main concern is what happens two years down the road.

| Id say if all three were built by those people just a few months ago and all are doing it again then they dont know what they are doing. They probably just stuck new rings on the old pistons and bolted it back together. This time i would mark the head and then ask to see the parts they replaced. It might just not be polaris that is you. | |

Sell it and buy the same thing if you believe in your brand of machine. If I was to go through what Bobby is going threw I would stand by my advice. However, I don't think I would be buying another Yamaha and it definitely wouldn't be po po. I am not bashing machines. It just sounds like this one is never going to right. More then likely it is dumb ass mechanics at his STEALERS.

| Bobby, at least have them mic the cyls and be sure they fall within spec, if they dont i would demand to talk to a polaris rep, most times they will get whats needed done. | |

| I read somewhere on hilifter polaris has new oil, 20-50, maybe the 0-40 is to thin. I still say you contact a polaris rep, you dont have to beg or get mad just ask that they do whats right. Bobby I still have not read if your oil usage was related to dirt this time? Was there dirt in the intake after the DFI unit was installed? | |
