| Talked to an Arctic Cat dealer yesterday about the 1000 Prowler and where I read that the owners have not been well pleased with the Tire performance that they get with the factory Maxxis tires. This is what he said. Due to the large torque load on the rear axle from the 950 motor, Arctic Cat engineered the rear axle with a spike load dampener that allows the rear differential to slip at peak torque output. He said the tires were also engineered into that equation and were designed to slip also to relieve torque load on the rear axle to keep it from coming apart. He said he warns his customers that if they put large "grippy" tires on the 1000, that they better be careful with the power pedal. under the right conditions, something will break. If I had one I would at least keep the stock Wheels/Tires to put back on if it broke under warranty. Here is what Arctic Cat says about the rear diff; - Arctic cat wrote:
To handle the 1000 H2’s enormous power output, Arctic Cat has engineered a rear differential to deliver maximum power to the tires with minimum driveline wear. Arctic Cat integrated what it refers to as a "spike load dampener" into the rear differential. Essentially what that does is limit the amount of torque put on the rear axle by allowing the differential to slip at peak torque output rather than disintegrating. It will be interesting to see if the 1000 has some rear diff problems with owners in the future.

| I know the thundercats are known for blowing out the front differentials. I can't honestly say I believe they figured the tires into the equation, lets make a side x side that has no traction. | |

| I have already changed my 1000's stock tires to bighorns and the bike is 100% better. It still slips just like the stock tires. | |

| What about the front diff.? It CAN handle the torque? Did the bean counters kill a more robust piece for the rear? |

When in 4wd, your torque is split to the front and the rear. When in 2wd, it all goes to the rear. I would say the problem comes in when you get the back end off the ground while your in the throttle.
