I sort of feel like I owe an explanation of and an apology for our early departure from the ride. There was a mix up in our room reservations first of all. The place we booked to stay was just completely out of the question. We then got lucky for ONE night at Ashland Resort due to a back out. But, after the first night (Thurs) that left us with nowhere to stay. And the forecast for rain all day Sat helped us make up our minds to pack it in early. We’re just not hard core enough to enjoy riding in an all day rain. After the ride Fri. we headed back to Ashland and loaded up. Went over to say so long to Gary & Cathy and missed them. Darn it. Then we went back over to the cabin where Yank and Pate were staying hoping to catch them in as I’d bought some tires from Pate. Missed them also as they weren’t back from their ride yet either. It was starting to get late so we thought it best if we headed home. Didn’t like the idea of staying in Bluefield and making the 60 mile round trip from there to Ashland to ride in the rain. We really enjoyed meeting everyone that we were able to meet this time. We couldn’t have had MORE fun than we had Fri. We’re very sorry to have missed the rest of you folks that we had looked so forward to meeting for so long. However be assured, although this was our first ride, it WILL NOT be our last. Next time we’ll just do a much better job of planning ahead. Hope everyone has a wonderful time this weekend on the remainder of the ride. Marty, if you’re able to read this in time, just take the tires home with you as we planned earlier and I’ll talk to you later. Thanks again everyone for such a good time.
