i was riding a few days ago and the front wheels all of a sudden felt like the brakes was pushed in about half peddle.i could back up and it will free it up and i can drive 10ft sometimes and others i could go miles. it done this at brimstone once and after i backed up it was fine for the rest of the day.
i checked the fluid today and it was a little low. so i changed it and took it for a drive and in about 50 ft it done it again so i turn around and go back and jack it up and turn the front wheel and i can hear some clicking that sounds like its in the front diff. the wheel is kind of hard to turn forward but easy in reverse.
has anyone had anything like this happen to there rzr???
i got the diff out and took apart! the plastic cage is broke. it has several pieces chipped off of it and there is also some muddy water in it. looks like the breather hose is stopped up with mud. i guess its time to order parts and get it back together and :Ride: .
also going to put new wheel bearings and ball joints in.

my local dealer told me that the front diff was the weak link.diff was low when u checked it ?so did it fill up with water or did the mud stop up the vent tube?maybe got to hot .any way he said he has had alot of pront diff problems to repair

i don't think the mud and water had anything to do with the cage in the diff breaking!! the water may have also gotten in by a seal that has been leaking for a month or so.
i think this is when it broke and it has took it a few weeks to show up.
also check out this. i ordered there aluminum cage from them. so hope no more breaking. stupid of polaris the use plastic to begin with!!

Looking at the pics its plain to see the diff was filled with mud, thats what caused it to break, no way it could work correctly with all that in it. Most times what breaks a cage is jumping while in 4x4 and being on the gas when the spinning tires hit the ground. But regardless of what action broke it the crap in the diff was the ultimate reason it failed. These diffs are sensitive to working right with the exact fluid reccomended by polaris and contamination or the wrong type fluid will cause problems.

LT i did not buy the extended warranty!! i would rather fix it myself and not have to wait on the dealer to fix it. plus i dont trust any of the dealers to work on anything. it would be in the shop for over a month if i took it to a dealer.
rob the noise when i was backing up is tire rub.

i have had the rzr back together for a few days and the new aluminum cage from superatv is working great. the install was easy and took about hour to hour 1/2 to reinstall the diff,axles,a-arms,wheels and ready to ride. the diff seals held me up for an extra week. i ordered the seals for the rear instead of the front so i had to reorder. i also put new wheel bearings and ball joints in.

Next planned ride at Brimstone is this weekend. Heath (Highlander) is going to be there. After that.......who knows? I would like to start planning a ride there or Pickett in October. I have a 3-day weekend for Columbus Day (whenever that is).

I can not make brimstone this weekend but I should be able to plan something in October either there or Pickett. Pickett I can make for sure about any time.
