It's been a while since we have heard any updates or new rumors about the Can am Side X Side but folks we got a new one for you.
A source indicates:
A prototype of the vehicle is already in existence.
1) Testing for the new Can-Am SxS will begin in Tennessee soon. 2) The SxS will have the Can-Am Spyder 990 engine w/100hp 3) Top Speed 83mph 4) Late May announcement date. __________________

I was at Fred's shop checking out the bare bones frame on Big-R's RZR. I was amazed at how thin and small the RZR frame is.

| I take it GunRunner has never owned a Can-am. Gotta ride it to understand. I ride mine twice a month in WV and beat the heck out of it. I still look at it and smile after each ride. The only issue is the winch but that is Warn...
I ride with 5 other Can-am's and have yet to see a broken frame. Then again we all have Richochet skids and do not jump them (they are 600+ lb and are not made for jumping continously).

Skids and no jumping and you will have no problems.

Skids and no jumping and you will have no problems. badride has the same skids and doesnt jump. So it must be a SAC related failure

I do agree though that frames should not break for any reason short of as crash. There is no reason why Can Am should not have fixed this problem.

| The only time any of my Can Ams have been jumped is on what few water breaks there are at Windrock on trail 2. Other than a few trips up and down it they haven't been jumped. The cause of the breakage on both Can Ams have been just under the seat where the frame bends to go up toward the air box. Yes, both of them had skid plates on them before they ever went into the woods. But, having a skid plate has NOTHING TO DO WITH BREAKING A FRAME UNDER THE SEAT! When I went to the dealer to see about warranty, they said no, turn it in on your insurance.
I am with Gunny, Can Am buys the motors from Rotax and they are just about as bullet proof as you can expect. The frames are made by Can Am and they SUCK!

| BRP (Can-am) owns Rotax. I agree the frames suck, without skids they will collapse on the bottom if hit hard. The frame breaking under the seat I have heard of but it is very rare -- I have yet to see it on any I ride with and very seldom hear about it on Can-am forums. I actually heard alot more about frames breaking on Arctic Cat Forums when I had a Cat. If I could build a perfect machine it would be Rotax Motor, Kawasaki Brakes, Arctic Cat Transmission, Yamaha Diffs, Polaris Frame (the one with the skids built in), and Honda Reliability.
Anyway -- I'd still like the Can-am SxS. My needs now would be four-seat so I doubt it will work for me...

| The 06 Outlander frame just under the seat. The 07 Renegade frame, just under the seat. Same Renegade but this shows what was on the bottom side of where it broke. | |

| BRP bought the Rotax motor company they did not invent the motor, The rotax motor started in Germany then moved to Australia and BRP bought them in 1970. To bad they dont build their Canadian components to the level rotax builds motors. Canams are nice and have great motors but for the high price they cost the whole machine should be top notch. | |

| Some days I wish I had kept my Outty. It brought a smile to my face every time I was on it. The versatility of a SXS wins out for me tho. I can't wait to see what they bring to the table. | |
