| Royal Blue has been on our radar. However, we have heard that it is pricey to ride there. | |

| Cant really be much more than coal creak and there fall jamboree. I would have to get a lone to be able to go to this event. With the OHV permit and the registrations . I think it is crazy to charge for a passenger. | |

I think the out of state hunting license for RB is about a $160.00. Now that is crazy. You can buy a year permit at Windrock for 80 bucks.....

I am not sure either but you do at RB. I think it is a state owned park and that has something to do with it. Maybe one of the TN boys can give us some insight.

As I understand it, it is not a state park per se -- at least not like the other state parks. Instead it is a Wildlife Management Area managed by the Fish & Game Commission. It's free to TN residents with a hunting/fishing license. The question I don't know the answer to is can you come there from out of state and ride with just a one, three, or 7-day permit, like you can buy to fish or hunt. I buy a fishing permit about every year. They're under $20, though I don't remember exactly how much. I'm in their computer -- just show my driver's license, pay my $$, get the receipt and go... But, again, I don't know if this will let you ride Royal Blue or not..

You can buy permits that are good for X number of days that are a lot less than a full year's non-resident license. For example a 3-day fishing permit is $16.50 and a 7-day hunting permit is $50.50 -- I just don't know if those are enough. | So, it's $30.50 per SxS per day. That's cheaper than Windrock, for sure, where you pay per passenger. Thanks for the info. I may go there next summer. My best friend hunts there, Chuck Swann and LBL a lot. That'd be fun...

| Guys to ride the Royal Bule or any TWRA land If you live in TN.There are two ways
1. Have a resident hunting and fishing License with a TWRA small Game permit Type 13 I think. It runs about 40 bucks for all 3.
2. You can buy a OHV permit for around 60 Bucks.
Because most people in TN have hunting/fishing license the choose option 1 because it is cheaper.
I do know that if you ride from out of state that it is over 100 bucks

| Just so everyone is aware, Royal Blue is managed by TWRA. They have officers patrolling the trails on 4 wheelers, even the farthest trails from the trail head. THEY DO CHECK PERMITS AND COOLERS. God help you if you have any "beverages" in your cooler because they will fine you! We asked one of the officers once about why Tennessee didn't reduce the price for out of state ATV/UTV people so more people would come here to help the economy. He said "they set the prices just to keep out of state people away TWRA does not want a bunch of ATVs running around all over the place, we don't want it to turn into what Kentucky is". The guy, and his bosses are idiots, just like our governor. A while back the governor bought a lot of land that used to be managed by Brimstone. Taxes were being paid on the land. After he (Tennessee) bought the land the county won't get any tax money for it from now on. Also, a few months later guess what; the governor said we were running out of money so he laid off some state workers!!! Funny, he didn’t see that coming when he bought that land. | |

| Every year I just go ahead and bite the bullet and buy a yearly pass for Windrock, Brimstone and TWRA. That gives me a lot of land to ride on for around $188. As many times as I ride that comes to around $4-5 per ride. I rarely ride much of TWRA and not that much of Brimstone but some of the routes we take do however cross over on to their property so I buy the permits. TWRA just closed some of the trails we were using on the south side close to HWY 116. Now we have changed our route but I looked at my odometer Saturday when we got back. We left the snack shack rode in all 3 areas and when I got back to the snack shack we had ridden 75 miles. If TWRA doesn't screw it up we have a really good route! | |

| I only ride across parts of it going to where I want to ride when I absoutely have to. I also make sure I have my permit and I am wearing the orange vest when it is required. Personally, I like Brimstone trails and the north side of Windrock the best. | |

I would love for someone to show me the north side trails. All I can find over there is gravel roads.

| I ride there pretty much every weekend from now till sometime in May. Just let me know when you want to go and I will be glad to show you some of the trails on the north side. Trail 57 is the best trail on that side but there are a few "technical spots" on some of the side trails that we sometimes take. We won't go on those if you don't feel comfortable. If you have a hunting license to run TWRA managed property there is a 75 mile loop we run that is great! It ties in to trail 57 about half way through. I will be there this weekend but the way it looks it will rain most of the day Saturday. If so, I will drive the Jeep Saturday then ride the 4 wheeler Sunday. I have started on my side by side but haven't gotten much accomplished. I hope to get more done next week. Driving that RZR S last week really got me itching to get it done. | |
