| I had the gorilla 4000, it was not as strong as my warn 3000 and the contactor switch kept getting stuck and you could not shut the winch down. Ive heard of the china made winches the viper is better.

| I we, Mike had a Ape,Gorrilla, it broke everytime we used it..........first time the hub broke, they replaced the whole thing free, then it broke a second time, he bought a Warn............. Nothing worse than a winch that won't work when you need it. | |

| I had a viper 4500 regular spool it worked great and now I have a 4000lbs KFI wide spool which has been an excellent winch so far. No matter which winch you chose I recommend you get a wide spool it really helps. | |

| I sure do appreciate all the good advice,Gunrunner sent me in the right direction with the viper winch. It has a good price and even the mounting plate is included.I,m going to order a viper winch today and give it a try. They reccomend a 4000 lb for the rhino so that,s what I,ll put on it.I,ll let you all know how it works when I get stuck. | |

| I recommend a wide spool winch not because of the amount of winch cable total but for the amount of winch cable it will hold per layer on the spool. Reason being A winch is rated at the first layer of cable so as you add cable and layers, it changes the gearing of the winch making it weaker and strain harder. The big benefit of the wide spool is the added cable per layer keeps you at max pulling strength for a longer period of time. I don't know if you are familiar with gearing but you can think of it like changing the front sprocket on a sport bike, the more teeth the larger the sprocket giving you more speed but less low end torque, as you add layers of cable to a winch it does the same thing.
The 4000lbs SE Viper elite is rated at 2544 on the 4th layer. | |

| I had a Gorillia on my ATV and it worked great, not so happy with the one I put on the Rhino. Worked fine the first few times I used it, then when I went home last month I checked it when I was putting it away and it don't do anything. Did not have time to diagnose it. A warn is pricey, but when you need a winch, you need a winch. I am looking at the warn bumper - winch combo. Very pricey..lol... but it gets it up out of the mud and water. | |

| Have a Venom 3000X on mine for 2 years now. Been used about 1/2 dozen times and submerged 100's of times. Still works great. Just used it at Bell Co. | |
