| One morning, three Southerners and three Yankees were in a ticket line at the train station. The three Yankees each bought a ticket and watched as the three Southerners bought just one ticket. "How are the three of you going to ride on one ticket?" one of the Yankees asked. "Watch and learn" said the Southerners. They all boarded the train. When the three Yankees sat down, the three Southerners crammed into a toilet together and closed the door. Shortly thereafter, the Conductor came around to collect the tickets. He knocked on the toilet door and said "Ticket please". The door opened just a bit and a single arm reached out with the ticket in hand. The conductor took the ticket and moved on. The Yankees agreed this was a clever idea. So clever, they decided to do it on the return trip home and save some money. That afternoon, when they got back to the station, they bought one ticket for the return trip and watched in astonishment as the three Southerners didn't buy even one ticket. "How are you going to travel without a ticket?" said one of the Yankees. "Watch and learn" said the Southerners. When they boarded the train, the Yankees all crammed into a toilet and shut the door. The three Southerners crammed themselves into another toilet. When the train started to move, one of the Southerners left the toilet and walked to the toilet where the Yankees were hiding. He knocked on the door and said "Ticket please". ****There's just no way on God's green earth to explain how those dang Yankees won the war. _________________ | |
