| We have been wondering where Yamaha has been and why they have not stepped up and developed some improvements to the Rhino. We all know they are falling behind. They have been busy lately with more important issues. Yamaha unveils new technology Powersports Business Friday October 23, 2009 Yamaha Motor Co. has developed a compact transmission system that can be placed on a 100cc-125cc scooter. The manufacturer posted an image of the system, called the Yamaha Compact Automatic Transmission, complete with a very modern-looking scooter at http://www.yamaha-motor.co.jp. Yamaha is displaying the new system at the 41st Tokyo Motor Show 2009 and plans to have it available for its Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand Malaysia and Philippines markets. The new transmission system fits the drive belt that connects the engine drive shaft and rear wheel axle inside the engine assembly to make possible an automatic transmission motorcycle with the same exterior appearance as a moped. Yamaha says with this system it is possible to fit an automatic continuously variable transmission in the space occupied by the manual transmission on a conventional moped-type motorcycle, thus making it possible to combine the multipurpose utility of a moped with the ease of use of an automatic model. With the US economy down looks like the Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Philippines markets get priority. | |

| They will make far more off this than any SxS. Mopeds are everywhere in 3rd world countries. They carry everything on mopeds (I saw a refrigerator being carried but did not have my camera on). Millions of mopeds are sold each year... Moped with "trunk space" (3 cases El Presidente Beer! 7% Alcohol!!) Woman with two kids (3 to 4 yr old son is standing in front of her) Here's a pic at a T shirt Manufacturing plant in the Dominican Republic: I took the pic because someone rides a 660 Raptor to work: Still my favorite pic in Dominican: | |
