| Please help us slow learners! Why did he turn the boot inside out before starting? Once he slid the boot on, it's still inside out unless I missed something??? | |

I suppose it made it easier to install by pulling down on the big end and then flipped it back after installing. If he had been installing it on the inside cv he would not have turned it inside out.

you must use the fast boot from moose. they are made to streach over the cv housing using the tool that they sell. this video is showing you how to change the boot without using the tool.

| Changed the Boot last week using this method. Worked great. I improvised a little with what I had in my garage. Instead of using a long neck funnel, I used a caulking tube and cut the tapered end off my Royal Purple Diff lube bottle. I placed the taped end of the quart diff lube bottle over the CV Cup, and placed the caulking tube over it. Put a little Royal Purple on it for lube, and Captmorgansgirl and I slid it right on. | |

Yes, I dont think you could do this with a Yamaha OEM boot. They dont have the flex.

| yea me and a buddy wrestled a yamaha boot for hours one night and could never get that last inch over the cv cup. then i ordered the moose fast boot and it popped right on in like two seconds, i couldnt believe it. and this was before i ever seen this video, we were just pulling it over the cv cup itself.
and yes Tick, the boot is turned insideout. slide it down and then once its on just pop it right back out, very simple.

You can do the outer the same way without ever removing the spindle from the axle. Just slide it on from the Diff side without turning the boot inside out. It will slide right into place. Remember only do this if your sure you have no contamination in the joint.
