| Yes , i think its a rumor for now. The 850 in its present state will not fit in a RZR , and the whole machine would need to be redesigned. I dont see that happening any time soon. it works to well as it is. and there just getting everything ironed out good. i dont see them changing it this soon. just my opinion of course...... | |

| the 850 is not going in the S its configured wrong and would require a total new frame, its been a rumor since the 850 motor came out last year. It might make it into a sxs someday but it will be a different vehicle. Polaris just got the bugs worked out of the rzr and just retooled the rangers for the 800 motor, so dont look for the 850 in anything new anytime soon. | |

Kind of surprised me that when they retooled the Ranger, they didn't go with the 850.

Kind of surprised me that when they retooled the Ranger, they didn't go with the 850. Its easy to see why if you look at the 850 motor, it is a v twin that sits inline rather than sideways like the 800, to use it it would require a completely different frame setup. Thats why they still sell the 800 sportsman and the 850, they are totally different machines, they could not just stick the 800 in the existing sportsman setup.

It does however sit directly upright instead of on an angle like the 800 does. They did that to narrow the seating area on a Sportsman, and it would create clearance issues in a SidexSide as they are currently designed. Here is a Pic of the Polaris 850 twin.

I meant just to say twin, the inline design is the issue in putting it in current setups, its like the honda atv motor setup , the motor sits up higher but it is also mounted inline rather than sideways like the 800,

| Yep. Put some Bucket seats in the Ranger with a dog house like the Rhino and that baby would be right at home. | |

| The snowmobile is designed to be run in extreme cold conditions maybe it would run hot in our riding conditions? I don't know just throwing this out there. I would love to see an 80 horse 500cc but that sounds like it would be pushing it to the limits of the engine. | |

| That would be sweet they could tune it down a little to make it super reliable and be the toughest bike out. I would love for Yamaha to change the engine but I don't see it before 2011-2012.
I am looking for them to redesign the Rhino so it will accumulate the larger engine this year and maybe install it next year. Depending on the lawsuits of course.

| Snowmobile engines turn more RPM's and their power is up stairs in that RPM range. Plus, they do not produce the torque that would be necessary to move our HEAVY (in comparison) SxS's significantly. | |
