Last day of gun season in WV

I was not really expecting to kill anything today, but mainly just wanted to be in the woods. The snow was gorgeous. I hunted till almost 11am without a deer sighting. I got up, walked about 40 yards. When I peeked over the hill into the thicket, there was a doe feeding on briar bushes. I watched her for about 30 seconds, saw another doe. All of the sudden this boy jumped up out of his bed and started moving thru the brush. Luckily I was ready. First shot was not all that great but dropped him. Second one was a double lunger that made quick work of him. A great finish to a fun couple of weeks at home.

Way to go Chris! Is that a Ritchie County Buck? Sorry we weren't able to get together. Perhaps it will work out next time. I've been wondering how you did. Wife killed a spike and a year and a half old buck that she thought was a doe. It's horns were less than an inch long. Over all we killed 6 buck on the farm.

Nice!! No, that is a Cabell County buck. I killed it about a half mile out behind my Dad's house.

dang you look serious in that last pic. I hung in there till the gun and myself iced over. All i saw was the same does that i had been seeing., buster bighorn never did show up.
