Anyone ever had luck repairing sidewall hole. Bighorns with 150 miles and a rear has about a 1/2" slice in it. I can throw a couple or three plugs at it but wondering any ideas on makeing it last a while. I know best is buy new tire and make planter next to shop w/old one, just hurts and the boss has a pocketbook lock on my ride, just spent 400 on tires a month ago. Need to let that $$ sting heal before prying open the purse again.

I fixed one with a patch on the inside then ran a tube.

I ripped a sidewall on my 4wheeler tire at about 500 miles. I put 4 of the gooiest nastiest plugs I had in it at the time and hoped to make it back home. Now with 1950 miles on it I've NEVER had a leak out of that tire and still rides great. Granted it is about 500# lighter but still...

That reminds me, I'm selling my 4 wheeler and i've forgotten all about that. I guess I better tell someone when they ask about the condition...

They make a plug patch. It is exactly what it sounds like. One big plug stuck to a patch. You usually have to drill the hole out bigger just to get the plug part through the tire.

I don't like adding tubs. If you get another hole while riding it can be a pain to plug.

They told me when I had mine done that as long as the cut would fit on their hot plate it could be fixed the place I used head a 6" plate it shouldn't be a problem to fix

Vulcanizing is the best fix for a sidewall cut.I had a side cut done on a KX500 dirtbike rear tire and the tire was still on it a year later when the wife sold it. And the KX was a rear tire killer!
