Speaking of toy haulers Empty
PostSubject: Speaking of toy haulers   Speaking of toy haulers EmptyMon Feb 01, 2010 11:08 pm

Over the last few months I have been pondering over the decision of buying another truck and retiring my 1992 f150 5.0 4x4. Over the years my toys had gotten bigger and the truck had gotten weaker so I needed "More Power".

I had been looking for a diesel but Friday I found this truck a 1999 ford f250 Super Duty lariat 4x4 with the 6.8 v10 with 92000 miles. I went to look at this truck this morning and needless to say I then drove it home.

Here is a few pictures I took this afternoon.

Heck you didn't get no truck, you got a Ford! Speaking of toy haulers 729242 Speaking of toy haulers 729242 Now before you get wild let me say I was only kidding. I've never owned a Ford anything but will look at them first next time I buy ANYTHING. THEY NEVER TOOK A PENNY OF THE GOV. BAIL OUT MONEY! Ford leadership said this company will sink or swim on our own. I admire that. My investment guy that manages my 401K talked me out of buying Ford stock a year ago when I could have bought it for 2 or 3 bucks a share. That stuff is worth almost $12 today. I kick my dumb ass almost daily!

Nice PU. A friend of mine bought one with 135,000 on it last year and loves it to death. I miss my diesel when I pull my 5th wheel. I have a 2002 Chevy 2500 Crew Cab 4x4 with 6.0 gas engine and only 63,000 miles on it. It sucks fuel good.

Thanks everyone,

Woodtick, Ford is the only way to go. I have always been a big believer in Ford especially since the bull sh-t bailouts.

moto92, As far as mods I do have a few planned but nothing major after all it is a "Ford"......

Gimpy, This one also loves fuel. I put 165 highway miles on it yesterday at about 12mpg.....

PostSubject: Re: Speaking of toy haulers   Speaking of toy haulers EmptyFri Feb 05, 2010 12:19 pm

First thing I did when I got this truck home was do some pm's and found a few things that needed corrected. The first was the driverside lower ball joint had a little play so I tore it apart and replaced both the upper and lower ball joints. Next the front swaybar end link bushings were wore out so I replaced both of those. The brakes and all bearings are in excellent shape so I changed the fluids/filters and called it good to go.

On the first tank of gas I averaged 12mpg. Actually better than I had expected.

The first mod arrived today.. Heres a few pics of before and after the bug shield.

Nice Truck, hope you have a healthy credit card to buy the gas, I had a 450 Fork work truck with same engine it was lucky to get 10 miles mpg, but it did handle good and pulled good.

When working on this truck I found it has vacuum operated automatic locking hubs and also has manual backups. I had never seen this before, I feel all trucks should have the manual backups.

I got some new tires Yesterday went up from the stock 265-75-16's to 285-75-16 and it appears to have helped the mpg slightly. Either that or just driving it has helped, for it was setting for a few months before I bought it..... I averaged 13+ going to Bowling Green and back yesterday.

Here's a better Picture with the new tires, vent visors, and bug shield installed.
