America's Great Outdoors Initiative Bears Watching

President Obama has signed a new initiative called "America's Great Outdoors." The plans for this initiative are conservation based, and calls for citizens to work together to work together with American Citizens on a modern approach conservation. On the one hand, this proclamation states the need for outdoor areas for Americans for recreation and enjoyment, but on the other hand stress conservation.

Those of us who have labored long and hard in the Land Use arena know that conservation is one of those terms generally used to keep Americans from enjoying their public lands, rather than encouraging them to enjoy their public lands.
