| Has anyone had any experience with plugging a rear tire on a SideXSide? I Square edged a rear on Sunday and put about a 1/2 inch slice in the sidewall about an inch from the rim. I would like to plug it and use it, but dont want to if it will give me more trouble on the trail. I know people do it all the time with success on an ATV, but I am not sure how it would work with a UTV, due to the weight and added stress. Any feedback is appreciated. | |

Marty, A plug is fine on a small hole, pencil size or smaller, anything bigger and it will work but on a sidewall espically I would not trust it. You graze a rock or tree, ect and it probably will pull out. I would do one of two things if it was me. Patch it from the inside or just get a tube. Jimbo |

| Thanks guys. I have 2 other Tires in the garage exactly the same, but hate to discard this one because there is alot of tread left on it. I may take it to a tire shop and see what they can do with it. I rode with a guy Sunday that had plugs all over the front tires on his 660 Raptor, and none of them have failed. Like I said, the added stress due to weight concerns me with the Rhino. | |

| Ask around your tire shops for "vulcanizing". Its Kinda like a patch but they use a type hot rubber spray. I had one on my Rancher that was an inch and a half long and never failed, with this procedure. Goodyear is the local shop down here that does the "vulcanizing". | |

| A sidewall can be plugged , I did it on a Jeep. But, you have to real particular. They make a combo plug/patch, I don't know what it's actually called. I have put 3 plugs in a 3 wheeler tire before, but not in a sidewall. If you can plug it with 2 plugs max, it will be OK, if your not a racer. My 2 cents is replace the tire. | |
