On a ride out at the farm yesterday, my 450 Rhino started to back fire a little on a real steep down hill. At the bottom of the hill it stopped running. Would start only with the choke pulled and stop as soon as the choke was pushed in. 3/4 tank of gas. Pulled the fuel filter off and saw nothing in it. I could blow through the filter, both ways. Put the fuel filter back on, pulled the choke it started like a new one and ran like a top for the remainder of the day. What the hell is going on here??? Any idea's at all??

the back firing is surely a lean condition, could you have a small hole in a gas line somewhere and loosing vacuum somewhere? maybe check the butterfly on that carb. if it has a little carbon build up on the back side then that may be preventing it from closing all the way or for that matter opening all the way. My 660 had a similar problem and it was the carbon build up on the carb. Hope it helps good luck.

Even though you could blow through the filter Phil, means nothing, like you'd think it would. Replace it, you'll be good.

Mine has done it on a few occasions... I just replaced the filter after the ride and went on with no issues...

When I had my Rhino, I had it vapor lock on me once. Might want to check your vent line coming from your tank.

It also could be a partially stoped up main jet. But likely the fuel filter.
