traveling viet nam wall escort

last night about 25 of my biker buds and i rode to wopakenta oh to lead escort for the traveling Viet Nam wall down to Sidney oh the organizers were expecting to get possibly 600 bikers and would be greatful to get 1000 show up . We had 5000 bikes show up for the escort it took over 1 hour to pass riding avg 35 mph and 2 abreast . EVERY town we came to small town America was out in force holding signs and waving flags, thumbs up, peace signs and salutes !! fire depts had ther ladder trucks extended crossing over the road with 30 x 50 flags hanging and the dept standing at full attention as we passed!! Honest guys it brought a tear to my eyes knowing that our service members were being paid the respect they deserve. i rode with a good friend of mine who was in kah san and other hell holes and he was shaken up by the thousands that rode and the many more who turned out to watch the passing he said i never had this when i came home i told him well its 40 years late but THANK YOU and welcome home!! i have never felt so honored and patriotic and was grateful to be involved with this ride !! every farm we passed in the country had a truck at the end of the drive and people waving flags and signs it was AWESOME and inspiring to see. if the rest of the big city folks could see something like this they would realize what America is about !!GOD BLESS OUR REAL HEROES AND POW- MIA ARE NOT FORGOTTEN !! i wish i would have had a cam corder on the harley to tape it i was so impressed!!

We were honored to have the wall come to our town a while back. A few of us from the fire department helped raise the wall and my whole shift stood guard one night. We had vets coming thru all night paying their respect and having a cold one. Indeed an honor to help.

Great write-up Coot. We just had a huge ceremony here at FT Knox last week. God bless all the Americans that truly value the sacrifices made by our forefathers, and also the sacrifices of today's generation.
When we rode through Jacksonville, Alabama for Kyle's funeral, the entire town was out lining the streets with flags and signs. Patriotic attitude is still apparent in this great nation of ours.
